They won't eat from a feeder. They eat it if it's in their food.
Try putting it in your chicken's food. They might eat it.
That would work for me - but wouldn’t if I had a rooster.
Mine eat eggshells from a feeder. It is cute. Each night they file past the eggshell feeder on their way to roost.

I have two sitting on 2 golf balls and this morning I chucked 4 eggs under them for the day so they can feel like they are accomplishing something.

This evening I will remove the eggs and leave the golf balls. Its hilarious - I will find that there are golf balls under one, then the other, then one each.... I am curious to see what they do with 4 eggs and 2 golf balls.
All in all I threw 5 eggs under them both, Fluffy had 3 eggs and Curly had 1 egg and 2 golf balls 😊

I left them both with 2 golf balls for the night. 💖

Do yours ever eat the oyster shell?
I worry because mine don’t seem to. I have tried scattering it on the ground but I am not sure if they eat it or just bury it in the bedding.
Oh, gosh, yes! I go through about a pint a day between them all...probably closer to 8 or more pints a week. Remember, though, I sell eggs, so we have only our own egg shells (we do eat a lot of eggs for just the two of us), and my elderly neighbors across the street (we supply them with eggs) save their shells for us, too.

I have read varying numbers, anywhere from 75 - 94% of egg shells are calcium carbonate. Oyster shells (per package) are 35% calcium. Not sure what percent that would translate to for calcium carbonate, so I can't compare apples to apples, unfortunately.

I can't put it in their food, as I have a mixed flock and too much calcium is bad for rooster's organs (kidneys, liver, etc)

They (RC's) may not need it - they may get enough from their layer feed. Mine, I create an all flock from organic layer and grower feeds (mixed) because I can't get an organic all flock here, so I'm not surprised the hens want additional calcium.
