Idk what happened, I noticed what appeared to be dried on poop. So, i got a warm damp balled up Kleenex and held it on wiping gently, no progress so I set it down beside me and looked up to see where Brownie was and then I looked down to see the chick run to Brownie but there was blood. I scooped it up its clearly tissue hanging. All of this happened in the space of two minutes.
If she were mine first thing I would do is put her in a bowl in the incubator to limit movement. I would be inclined to take some dental floss and tie off the prolapse as close to her belly as possible and then a little later snip off what is prolapsed. It really does look to be only yolk sac involved. Do not do that yet though, hopefully others would have more advise in the emergencies section.

Oh My Goodness :) she is so fluffy - what a darling!

Wonder what colour she will end up - she is very pretty.
According to the breeder she will be black with lightly feathered legs.
You know me, cannot resist a black chicken.
This one has great poise. Even when she is being nuts and jumping up and down, she is always ‘just so’. It is why I find her molting look so funny.

She looks to have more normal feathering than my chicks, or maybe I am just used to seeing only mine close up. Mine still look really fuzzy!

hahaha - she is cute - can't remember what breeding she said she was though.
Ummm. She is a chicken and both parents are chickens.
One is a Marans and the other is an Ameraucana (not Easter Egger).
I think I got that right.
The tassles come from the Marans side.

Whiskey started squawking by the house and I could hear another couple in similar sounds out by the coop. Went out to find out who/what ruffled feathers

After looking around a bit, I noticed this

View attachment 3496250Then I saw several more...heard a crow up there too...

Eventually birds circled higher and drifted off. Went town to check on those by the coop. All fine. On way back to the house, this started (mind you, the plan is for them to go into the freezer later today)View attachment 3496252

The spent some time separated by the bush, then headed back towards the coop, Kren pausing for a drink at the spigot tire.View attachment 3496271When they got back out where it started, they went at it again, this time taking it into the olive trees. I went inside to make brunch. Now they need time to settle down and flush the adrenaline out to avoid tasting gamey. Epic pics but confirmation that the freezer is the best place.
Those are some amazing pictures. Also quite scary!

Firstly, she is obviously going to be a black hen. She is going to be a big girl from her parentage. She may, may mind you have a few copper hackle markings. That really depends on if the marans is her mother or father. If she has a Marans mother with full hackle markings chances are good she will inherit some, less likely though if the Ameraucana is her mother. You will know if she is going to get hackle markings at about 7 weeks old. I cannot tell for sure from the new picture, but it looks like she is not going to have a beard or muffs, but then, so did Goose until she was almost 3 months old and they sprouted. Right now, I see her looking like Raven with lightly feathered legs as a adult.

Is it the butt or the umbilical - take a pic and post here so we can see it.
I can. Just gave it food and water. Still quite lively and strong. I do not know if this is umbilical or butt or how to tell.

Hello Marie! How are you? I was wondering where you were, hadn't heard from you in a few days. Is it raining there also?

Was looking at the News this morning and in London it was raining, not sure how far you are from there.

How is Tina's foot? Last you said it was better - has it remained so?
She is perfect in fine health ❤

They were out in the front garden mist of the morning and enjoying the sun today.

They love courgette and had raw cauliflower and cabbage today. I think these flaxseeds have helped her along to

How is your flock and horses doing? Have you finished painting your shoes and boots 😆 is that fence almost done now it's must be really difficult with that weather
