You know, @GregnLety , I'm partial to my heritage rocks, but if you have more like him, I could find space for one more Roo (Silky/BR cross). He is so dang handsome!!!🥰
🥰

And, I must say, I think this picture of Big Boy's son is POW and Caption Contest worthy! When I first glanced at the photo, I thought you have photo shopped it - his head looks almost human like in this first photo!!🥰🥰

Thanks @bgmathteach we do have a handsome group of young roosters. If ya was nearby I'd give one.

Penelope used to lay blue eggs now she lays whitish eggs. Blanche and Sophia really dark brown eggs, now more olive or khaki.

Even Buttercups eggs get lighter and lighter throughout the year.

Can we assume that she is doing that? I think I read somewhere that the egg colour gets lighter over the course of the season.

At any rate I am most interested in what information you can find on this.
I'm just sad. I hope nothing is wrong with her. 😥

Of course Jaffar will attract the girl next door. He has a cool cocorico. :lau
My chickens egg colors stayed pretty much the same. Im sure when they get older that will change.
I have never had color change until they got old. Never during the year before now.

Hatchling update

The outcome is 11 eggs out of 12 hatched, of the 11 hatchlings 10 have survived, even the one that was trailing the umbilical tissue.

So, 10 out of 12, great odds.

The one thing I am not happy with is the fact the teacher is keeping the chicks for the next week. I wanted to get them sold as soon as possible. I also wanted to do a wing feather check for hens vs Roos. This needs to be done on the first day or so.

Go over and do the wing check

No More Blue Eggs
It has been more than a month since we had a blue egg here at FBA. I was concerned that Glynda was laying her eggs in some secret nest so I decided to watch her to see where it might be.

Nope no secret nest. She is laying her eggs in the main coop. I watched her.

This is the egg she now lays.

That's right, it's white.

To be certain, I ate it for breakfast today and peeled back the inner layer. This is what I found.

That egg is just plain white now. I caught another being laid today, still white.

My understanding is that hens do not change their egg shell color. I suppose Glynda just ran out of spray paint for hers. 😥
I am sad to hear that.
You absolutely need a Cream Legbar.
