Want to give both hug and heart for this.

Yes, I can see that Foxy is lighter colored than Meimei, now that you point it out, on the wings and the tail...but seems to have a darker head/hackles - though that might be the angle/lighting.

I do hope Tina starts to improve - especially with you leaving in a few days. It would be nice to know she is doing okay before you go. I am not sure how long the course of antibiotics is, will you have a couple of days after they are done to maybe give her some fermented feed and/or yogurt? Repopulate the gut (well, not 'gut' with chickens - but you get my drift, I hope) a bit after the anti-biotics? I probably worry about that aspect too much, as I know antibiotics throw my digestive track for a loop. Some it doesn't seem to bother them as much - so I am probably, again, worry too much about that. Sending you hugs :hugsand well wishes for Tina:fl!
Yes Foxy has gray colorings on wings and tails. I think it is very pretty.

Thanks! Yes my husband will give Tina yogurt after it. You are not worrying too much. Very good advice/reminder.

Hi everyone. Hope you’re doing well. Here’s a video for @RoyalChick and any other Little Mill fans out there. I took it on Tuesday after work.

Awe, sunbathing is great, but it is even better when you get to do it on mum's comfy chair!

She looks lovely as always, shining in the sun. While it was hard to watch her limp, when she runs it creates the cutest little funky gate! 🥰 🥰 🥰

It was so nice she came over and say 'hello'(or goodbye?) before taking off to the coop

I'm surprised no one attacked it and tried to eat it! But, yes, as RC said, it was quite fun to see their curiosity!

And isn't that sweet, even though they are in the tween stage, someone still loves their human mum! 🥰 🥰 🥰
It was hilarious after I stopped the video, they were all milling about, looking at the snake, looking at me - as if seeing what I would do.

As I wasn’t upset or trying to kill it they figured all was ok and they just stood by watching it. Finally I had to chase them away to stop bothering the snake, I am good with the snake staying, I do not think it would be a problem to anything but the smallest of newborn silkie chicks.

That 1st one has an awfully large head spot. Are both with head spots full barred/cuckoo or just half? At only 2.5 weeks, I'm terrible unless I'm watching them move. Video of them running around would help, but a 20 min video is an awful lot to post. Are these the babies your white rock hatched?
I believe that both of these are 1/2 cuckoo, but honestly, I do not know for sure. I have been straight out, and really didn't want her broody for a full week before putting eggs under her, so just grabbed some random eggs that were decent (i.e. not too small - pullet eggs, nor odd shaped nor funky shell, (calcium globs) nor dirty). I had already collected the eggs, and they were all in a basket, so not even sure where they came from (which coop), so they could be just about any mix. The ones with puffy cheeks obviously have at least part EE (either 1/2, or 1/4 from my last year's mutts) But they could also be form my route 66 coop, and be 100% EE??:idunno While it is too early to be absolutely sure, both oft he barred ones look like they are part CM. That said, some of my mixes that were 1/2 BR and 1/2 DC or EE have has the more uneven barring like a CM. I won't be able to tell until they get a full set of feathers. I know a straight X pea comb should be a pea comb, but that isn't always what I have gotten...so I can't even rely on that 100%.

I don't have ANY social media accounts other than this and Pinterest, so I have no place to upload a video to, to then download it here. That's why I only post pictures. I hate the idea of 'Internet big brother' spying on me. It is bad enough that whenever I buy something online I start getting ads for related things! When I searched for Shade tarps to get links for @Ponypoor , I have since gotten non-stop ads for all sorts of tarps! (including ones for hauling/transporting Bees!!)

Thank you for putting the effort in for that reply. ❤️ I should not worry/try to figure it out before it is time. It/they will reveal themselves to me in good time! Unlike others, while I would prefer pullets as I have enough roosters right now, it isn't a travesty if they are all roosters.

Edited to add: yes, they are my White Rock's chicks.

And I appreciate those links to this tarps 🥰

I also have been getting ads for tarps too. At this point I don’t even notice them anymore. Unless it’s horse or chicken related of course, then I notice, and have to check it out 😊

Oh I can’t wait for more photos of the chicks 😊

I moved the tractor coop over to the shaded woodsy summer spot. It's been so hot so soon! I've been preparing another run back there but decided the heat near our shale "parking lot" is just too much and the netting would be okay for now, with the electric fence all around. And, I discovered a new nesting area they've made under the coop, I presume because it's been too hot for them in the coop during the day. Watched Popcorn lay her egg there - she lets out a scream-wail just before she lays, and she did that three times yesterday, unusual, so I went out to see what was going on. She laid it quietly, just huffing a bit as she pushed, and then hopped right over to the feeder to eat afterwards. There were two eggs already there.

Much cooler in the woodsy spot. Cleaned and jet-sprayed the coop all down today before moving, then moved it, sprayed coop protector and let that dry, then put chopped hemp in the nestbox and poop tray. Popcorn, who forages like nobodies business and keeps me company wherever I am out there, hopped up in the open back and inspected before much was reassembled. Then she got in again and tried out the nestbox just when I got the hemp and fake eggs in. Here she is.

She settled on the eggs and pulled them under her. What, Popcorn you just laid an egg yesterday, are you going broody? She resettled twice more, spreading her wing out to make sure she covered four of the fake eggs.

Hazel came in to see what was going on, then went out and stood on the veranda. I went back to get more things and heard who I think was Hazel doing the escort call so I went back. Popcorn was out. She didn't lay an egg.

I've been noticing how much escort and companion duty Hazel does, but have seen it mostly with Peanut and Butters. This was nice that she did that for Popcorn. Popcorn doesn't really have a close buddy in the gang.
Sounds like it was a full day. Rewarding even.

They only hang around until my chooks come home to roost. Then they scurry out and head for the Biden wall (that’s what I call the fence they travel through) easy access to my backyard from their backyard. Basically they come to forage and eat my feed
They are smart little ones.

Broody Tomatilla? Thoughts?

Tomatilla is acting broodylike.
A few days ago she started making sounds like she does when she's going to lay an egg, or like a rooster.
And tonight she went back on the egg she laid earlier but I switched it out for a stone egg because I don't want to risk an actual egg.
Then later I went to get Padme some food and Tomatilla was roosting.
Do you think she's broody? I really hope so because I hoped a hen would go broody, preferably Tomatilla.
She could be thinking about it. Sometimes they toy with the idea for a while before starting or giving up the thought.
