I'm making a list with all these excellent suggestions. Between RVing, home reno, and covid, I have lots and lots of disposable gloves. lol

It's going to hit 99 today and I thought I'd put out some of the electrolyte solution. It says to mix fresh every day. Has anyone mixed and left it refrigerated? I hate to throw it out, but my 4 chickens are unlikely to drink a gallon a day.
Mix and refrigerate should be just fine. I do find that after 24 hours in the heat the waterer is disgusting and needs cleaned.

Tina has been in hospice care for the past week. She stays in the house. My husband puts her on his lap or in a tub with bedding that he carries around with him.

I think he is extremely upset.

Today Tina can't move anymore. He is so upset that he barely talked to me.

Goodbye Tina. 😭😭
I'm so very sorry. :hugs:hugs:hugs

Cholo IV is acting sluggish today so we're giving him and Goldie some water with electrolytes and some wet starter and grower. If he doesn't perk up we'll bring him inside to recuperate. Might be time to give everyone some electrolytes.

You might need an assistant for that job
Yup, my mom helped me. She held BBQ while I removed the pus.
The removal of the infection went well. I think that I got it all.
BBQ was a champ. I'm about to go give her some treats and food.
I didn't take pictures, but when I rewrap her foot tomorrow I will try to.

Do I continue to soak her foot, even though I removed the infection? Do I keep on using Prid? I'm going to keep using everything else, but not Prid unless I should.

What did it say in that video that Bob and someone else sent you? I can't remember myself.

Well, Marans with feathered legs are supposed to have feathering on the outer toe. That middle toe is supposed to be clear of feathers. I think it is a parting gift from Twig as silkies middle toes have feathering.
I need to inspect Tassel’s feet more closely. I think her toes are clean but I am not 100% sure now you mention it.

Yes to those wondering….

Yes I went and bought Sophia a few chicks, she just isn’t snapping out of the broody hen thing and was starting to look drawn.

So I went and grabbed a few chicks at Peavey Mart (formerly TSC), 2 Bielefelders and 2 Cream Legbars, I am hoping that’s what they are hahahaha. Whatever they are I am hoping it gets her up and out of that nest!

I love how she shuffles them under her hahaha…

Anyway she is an unknown entity for broody hen, I have no idea what to expect so hope she doesn’t all of a sudden decide ‘OMG I do t know what you are I will eat you!’.

Well done.
You might check the various videos and stuff but I say definitely no to Prid and probably no to soaking unless the wound starts to look infected.
The most critical thing now is to keep it clean and letting it heal up on its own.
So I think some no-stuck gauze and vet wrap changed daily.
Maybe triple antibiotic cream but I am not sure.
