Seems to be a theme these days with crazy weather, I have been toying with the idea of getting an evaporative cooler for the Hen House and it can do double duty in my office during the day.

The chooks are so warm I have the two box fans going full tilt for them.

Has been preparing to celebrate Hen-Rietta's hatch day - the lovely lady is 7 years old. https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26971144
The little (now not so little) chick visitors from next door have started sleeping on the fence under the cover of Alex's coop roof. Seems like they like the company of all those beautiful Rocks. And Xzit has gone broody in the middle of a heat wave.

Pastel has done a wonderful job treating BBQ's bumble foot. After soaking for several days, BBQ got surgery this week. Everything was looking OK at the time of posting the synopsis and we look forward to more news from Pastel.
Sadly Pastel's hatch didn't do well.

Fireworks…?

Not sure why people didn’t get the memo that the whole province of Ontario is under a restricted ban for all open air fires and burning which includes fireworks! I bet the police are busy tonight.

Inconsiderate people who risk bush fires, hope they give them very steep fines. Even though we had rain it isn’t enough to wet the old undergrowth, add to that the fact that much of our fire fighting resources (people and equipment) are up fighting fires in northern Ontario, Alberta, BC and Quebec. If we have fires here there is limited resources to deal with it.

Not to mention the fact that it freaks out my poor horses and chickens, and I don’t like it either. Really wish they would just ban them outright in this township. I know many farmers who’d be happy if there was a complete ban - they won’t be chasing cattle who are spooked, out on the road.
