When I went to check the sick BR girl this evening to my surprise she was standing for the first time in several days. Gave ger 35 ml of wet mash along with her vitamins and honey water. Every day she physically protests stronger against being held and fed which I take as a good sign.
Wonderful ! I was wondering earlier, I hadn’t seen a post on her. Do you think it’s wry Neck then in this case?

Help! I did a thing!

He needs a name! We're stumped. Shadow is too common.

I do think it's wry neck. Am anxious for the selenium/vitamin E to get here as our multivitamin does not have them in high enough concentration for the recommended dosage. Am going out of town before it will arrive but I have faith in nurse Lety.

Give him a few days for his personality to reveal itself! In the meantime, do you want a 'theme' to extend to the dog?
If so, Thunder, Nebula/Nebulas (dark clouds in space)
Mirk is the Celtic word for dark (not unlike our word 'murk' or murky.
faileas is the Scottish word for Shadow
Erebus Greek/Roman mythology word for 'deep darkness/shadow.

Other words for darkness

P.S. 'The 'Thing' is cute' :love Is it a black lab/part lab?

Black lab, yes. First dog since starting our family over 20 years ago. My family has typically gone with literary names: Beorn of Carrock, Gurgi (chronicles of prydain), Arwen.... this little fellow is 9 weeks, calmest, quietest pup I've ever seen and has big feet. He's on his 2nd nap (had 2 walks) and may be down for the night.

This sounds like wonderful news!

So, I know everyone (and every bird) has varying needs for all vitamins and minerals...but you might consider supplementing everyone with a bit of brewer's yeast. Maybe once a day (when able) give them all a wet mash with some brewer's yeast mixed in. Good source of a variety of vitamins and minerals - most of the Bs, some selenium, etc.

Brewer's yeast info

A cumbersome read, but has information on proteins and mineral analysis of Brewer's Yeast. This would be right up @RoyalChick 's alley!!!

Nutritional info

I started using it with my chickens when I first got ducks. At that time, chick starter feed didn't have enough B's ( forgot which couple are critical!) for baby ducklings. They grow so fast that they need significantly more than baby chicks. So, It was suggested I add brewer's yeast to boost the Bs they needed. I have since just mixed it into everyone's feed - though at a higher rate for chicks and ducklings.

Best of wishes for a speedy and full recovery for your BR girl! You and Lety are so great to/with your animals - they are lucky to have you both!
