Article on treatment of Red Poultry Mites; my kiddos don’t have but came across this.

I had not heard of eprinomectin and was curious as to if any info was available for poultry use.

It was interesting to me to see the difference in the dosage required to treat mites on poultry vs mammals. More was required for poultry and it wasn’t known if it was a difference between birds vs mammals. Or the actual different mites.

I will be looking into this Macrocyclic lactone product.

Tick Tax Toes

I think Red is looking at Tuff’s toes 😊

Is Babs dual purpose? Because that is Hattie behavior.

Babs has many purposes and they are in order of importance: Gardening; Eating; Being Beautiful; Entertaining; Snacking; Following Bernie everywhere; and finally Egg-laying.
I have no idea what dual purposes you could possibly be talking about and I am shocked, just shocked, that you would imply that the beautiful Hattie has only two purposes in her life.

I really wish I could keep be. I would love to hear about your bee keeping experiences.
Why can't you keep bees?

This is our first year, so we have very little experience. I've been posting about what experiences we do have on my Sally's GF3 Thread.

We have treated for varroa mites (a very bad bee pest; they changed American beekeeping when they showed up from Asia in 1987), and put on a honey super. A "super" is another box, put on the top.

You don't plan to get honey the first year. You need to leave 60-70 pounds for the bees to eat over the winter. We might get a taste...:drool

I too have thought about bees. The honest truth is it looks like too much work for me, and in my area there is a lot of local honey sold by people on the road at the bottom of their driveways. I am however ecstatic to host their bees on my mint and my garlic chives.
Interestingly it is the Bumble Bees not the Honey Bees who feast on the white clover in the 'lawn'. They are welcome too. Yesterday my place was quite literally humming!

We have a guy here who keeps bees and is always look for places for his hives; I thought of letting him put a few here but with the horses and my spraying for weeds I would be afraid of damaging them.

Thankfully my neighbour does host about 8 gives at his place so my fruit trees can get pollinated.

Thank you for wanting to host some hives, and being aware enough of the danger your spraying might be, not to.

One of my neighbors wanted to host a hive. When the beekeeper found out there were farm fields near the property, he said no. The farmer does use Glyphosate.

Yes, those fields are next to my property. Bees will forage up to 1.5-2 miles, so I can't keep them safe from farm fields.
