I do have Amoxy-Tyl powder. I went to the Baytril because that is what I had used on Peanut and I read of others on BYC using it. I was too stressed and that isn’t the best state of mind to be in. In reading more closely now I see the amoxicillin part of Amoxy-Tyl is not recommended, but the Tylosin would be. Baytril as a fluoroquinolone, maybe too big a hammer for this? But it will work, said to be a second-line choice for mycoplasma.
Yes the Baytril was not for coccidiosis, the Spuds were all on Corid-treated water, and Friday was their last day. I started Anna on the Baytril on Saturday. For the lice your gang has, I did read ivermectin is not very effective. Didn’t know that it could have an effect of a sudden vulnerability to coccidiosis.
Yes. I found the same article and a couple of others and felt relieved!
I don’t fault the vet terribly yet, but I’m not happy about nobody getting back to me that day about the eyes bleeding, that was very stressful to me. It could be they were very busy. I’m going to speculate that they were booked up for Friday and had a lot of calls to answer, and that also they have a philosophy of not aggressive treatment and didn’t want to go from one treatment right to another. If anyone did get the message, I’m guessing that the eyes bleeding, which was very stressful to see, is not something indicating blindness is imminent. But a good part of the job there is public relations, and they fell down on that!
Thank you. Yes I agree with you and
@RoyalChick to not treat Ida at this time since she is doing otherwise very well. Tedi has no visible symptoms. Anna sneezed again this morning, but today I can see her iris and pupil separately, the iris has color too and outside the iris looks very light pinkish yellow now, not nearly so deep pink and even red like it was. I stopped the Terramycin as her eye looks so much better and what was bleeding is healed. Also it will improve her vision to not have oil in there.
They are spending the mornings inside the house in their corner. She has been resting in a very dark corner on a towel on top of the brooder tote. Today she wanted to join the others where they wandered but would have to jump over to Chickatraz from the brooder, and she did not feel up to doing it and was peeping, missing being close to them. So I helped her over. Then I was going to hold the feeder and water cups for her before leaving to bike ride….. But then! She found the old chick feeder which is over there on the platform, and pecked down low for it, ate some, and when I tapped the water cup to show her where it was hanging, she walked over and drank from that at the right height, all by herself! Then a few minutes later she did it all again! Yay! She needs to catch up, or at least get on some track if she’s never going to be as big now. So glad if she can continue to eat and drink on her own! I’ll get some pictures today.
