Good dogs require LOTS of training (both dog and owner), and should still be supervised when in situations where they're facing temptation. Got a long way to go with Sherlock. My goal is to be able to be out working in the yard with him loose and leaving the chickens alone. It is NOT a plan to leave him out all day without us out there too. So far, he likes chasing the deer, a safer option to work on training with.
I wish you the best and know you will work hard with Sherlock. I pray he becomes the dog you want him to be. Great dogs come from hard work. I have faith that you will do the work. He is lucky to have you as the owner as you will help him to be his best self.

Perhaps the vet could supply the antibiotics and you could then save yours for a crisis. I might not tell the vet I'm treating with Baytril. I did not feel mine when I did.

You do realize the risk that the vet may discover bird flu and the consequences of that.
The eggsact reason I wouldn’t do a necropsy or bring a sick chook to the Vet.

I feel that if I had a chook with flu I might be able to Nurse some of them in ways a poultry factory with thousands of birds can’t or wouldn’t.

We can spend the time treating them with supportive care that a place where the bird is just a commodity and would be culled as if it were a House Fly.

Now an injury like a fracture or skin tear needing sutures yes take to Vet.

I do not. I have never flushed a chickens kidneys. Others have posted detox solutions. Perhaps they can chime in.
@Marie2020

With humans IV fluids to encourage kidney output would be an option, but always a risk if kidney function is poor.

The best thing is antibiotics which you are already doing. If she is gasping to breath then you could drain her abdomen but it seems that you don’t have access to a reliable Vet.

And you know what Marie? At the end of it all I found with Tuff that, yes, it helped her with breathing but it was the loving care and attention given that was the best thing; she passed quietly but she had a lot of enjoyment with good food, good enjoyment pecking and digging in the dirt. If she seemed to be slow and sore I gave her some Aspirin for a few days.

You are doing everything right with Tina, shad is correct with these little factory hens, they are not built to live long, but you are making her life a good one.

I wonder if @micstrachan got any fermented feed at Oktoberfest?
Haha! I did get lots of fermented feed at Oktoberfest.

In all seriousness, I have fermented feed as a treat for the girls before and they loved it to a point and then got sick of it. Flash has had a slow crop for a few weeks, so I am providing mash made from their pellet/crumble mix alongside tge dry feed.

Sailors take warning…

We have had a long run of gorgeous summer like weather - it’s been at 30C this past week just crazy for here in Oct. the chooks have been just lucky it isn’t freezing cold with their molting (darn Penelope why didn’t you molt a few weeks ago!?). But coming to an end, starting tonight rain rain rain and no higher than 10C for daytime highs and the ‘S’ word is being put out there for Monday overnight 😢

That sounds like it could be internal laying. Hopefully she will stop laying as the days get shorter and can get past this episode. If it is internal laying there is not much you can do but support her. If you had a vet that would give her an implant to stop laying that would help but it seems you have no access to a vet. Keep her comfortable and help her symptoms is all you can do if it is internal laying.
I've explained that the vet situation here. It's crazy.

I almost had a wonderful lady vet that understood chickens like the back of her hand . But the controls in that vets wouldn't permit her to deal with me or take us on in their clinic. The receptionist was vile.

That was back when Amber was alive . It broke my heart not being able too help her

They wouldn't allow her to speak to me again. She was the business as far as vets go, IMHO .

I won't ask advice after this as I feel I'm pestering

Is this electrolyte okay along side the antibiotics? I have the probiotic to
I can’t see what product you have but generally electrolytes are fine alongside other medicines.
And of course you aren’t pestering
:hugs
