For pony Sunday I would like to introduce you to the winner of one of my favorite competitions.
A lady after my own heart who this year, to quote the narrator, was able to focus on caring for herself and her number one job of getting fat.

I wonder who took her the trophy?

Sir Jaffar is so sweet. When just now, I let loose the krakens, he just stood there like he was waiting for me to pick him up. I did, and we snuggled together for a bit.
Seems that is just what he wanted.
He was probably asking about his knighthood status and wanted me to contact Queen Aurora for him?

Ok, y'all, I need help deciding.

I did submit that chickadee under the tree branch pic. The contest allows up to 4 entries, and I'm wanting to be choosy, so only 1 of the above pics.

Translucent means kind of see through, silly!
Kiddo is looking like she'll take a nap today, so if/when she goes down to sleepytown I'll get out there and do my job as a chicken tender.

Poor chookie - can you go out at night and move her up onto the roost after dark?

Yes. But I thought I would give it a little time first. Maybe she will give up on her own. Doubt it - but worth a try!

Here is the tax payment.

So I took a 3” diameter pipe (pvc) we had laying around and stuck it above the offending unused 2x4 and drilled holes in it and attached it securely. This means that the pipe is now approximately one inch above the rest of the roosting area and its farther from the ladder.

As you are in OH and it can get pretty cold you need to make certain that their toes are fully covered by their feathers while using the curved pipe. Otherwise there will be the risk of frostbite from. Exposed toes. 2x4 on the wide side is optimal so they set their feet flat when roosting for areas where it can get quite cold.
