I am super sorry that I’ve not been on here in a few weeks. I’ve been super busy. My grades were better a day ago but I have a C in Georgia Studies. But I got a 100 on a quiz today so I’m eggspecting that to go up.
My math is a B, and I’m starting to enjoy math a little bit.
All of the chooks are fine. I have 3 pullets and one rooster from my babies.
Eli is still getting used to everyone, and with BBQ chasing her and they chicks it’s a bit chaotic.
BBQ’s feathers are finally growing back. She’s actually a really pretty hen. Splotch is starting to molt I think.
Pastel has no tail feathers left… I accidentally snapped his last one in half today when I tried to grab him. I missed and grabbed his tail feather.
Bolt isn’t laying any eggs, but I love her.
I think that the only two that are laying right now are BBQ and Splotch. I don’t think that Eli is laying anymore. She gave us a few eggs.
All of my guineas are doing fine. I keep on forgetting to bury Madame Pearl, so I still have a dead Guinea hen in my freezer. I feel so bad.
I had a horse show on Saturday. I was awake for a total of 22 hours on Saturday. It was interesting. More to come in that.
I have championship in two weeks, so I need to be very focused on horse back riding. I’m not too worried though. In December Lenny is going to be leaving… I’m not sure what I’ll do.
This is Lenny laying down at the horse show.

Below is my favorite chick. She looks a lot like Bolt. This is Crystal.

I was wondering how your math was doing, glad you’re getting to enjoy it a bit more. You will use math everywhere in life 😊

I love you chick so darn cute 💕 and Lenny also.

So what do you do with the remains after you have made stock/soup?
That is what I am talking about.
When I make bone broth, I reuse the bones until I can mash them with my fingers. I give those bones and the cooked veg to the chickens, and they love it.

If I didn't give it to the chickens, I'd bury it in the garden. All that stuff is good for the soil. NOTE! Bury it about 2 feet deep, or you'll have critters digging it up.

Those bones would be an eggcellent source of calcium I bet.

I wonder if using a potato masher or food processor/blender to really get those bones crunched would be a good idea? It would be a gross slurry but hey, my animals would all devour that.
New Remco Bass-O-Matic. Prepare your bass the easy way, bones and all.
(Gee mom, this is the best bass I have ever tasted!) as seen on TV

You have made me feel better. That is exactly what I did.

Pip looks mad, but she wasn't.

Do you compost? If the bones are that soft then they should degrade really fast in compost.

But I feel it would be better given to the chooks - good calcium.

Oh, yes, I compost. But I know critters would get into the pile; they get the moldy bread I dump in the compost bin.

If it's buried, it's out of their reach. I give it to the worms.
