Egg Update!!!

This morning I took extreme care while removing Henny from her nest, I moved the eggs keeping them in the same position I found them, once she was off the nest I did a very quick candling - Fluffy’s egg’s chick had popped through the air sac, but not Curly’s.

Once Henny went back on her nest I replaced the eggs under her in the same position the were in - and guess what?! Fluffy’s egg was chirping

Hopefully all goes well and when I get home I will have chicks.

Squeee how exciting!!!

Thirsty Thursday!


The ladies enjoying some "oak tea."
I haven't had any mating squats from them, just the little shuffly "why are you petting me" ones so far.
And I don't really mind them sleeping in the nestboxes if they prefer. I'll clean them

OMG! I can’t wait! If she does hatch, the first thing you do is this… Take a million pictures and post ALL of them on FBA!

Yup it’s late - usually get some beginning of Nov. it won’t last, when the sun comes out it will be gone. Later in the week though they are calling for a lot of snow - around 15 - 20cm (8-10 inches).

We might be getting snow tomorrow or Sunday. However it won't be much snow.

She looks great, Mr P hates me handling him also. And he won’t take treats so that makes it harder for me to ‘make friends’ with him.

You might try training him with regular feed, as in having it available only from you hands in the morning. But you have so many chickens, it would be awhile for everyone to finish so Mr P could feel okay about taking some from you!

Ohhh! I’m not sure if I owe SHRA tax for this, but if you don’t have a rooster, she might be taking some traits of a rooster?

I do have a rooster. I have not seen him try to mate with her, or square off for a spat. He's not feeling very active or amorous these days; he's getting over his own molt.
