I take pregabalin which is a similar med to GBP (gabapentin), both are good for nerve pain and both have shown to be good treatments for anxiety. I take it for my peripheral and central neuropathy, and my leg spasms.

It makes me extremely drowsy and ‘chill’ as you say so I take it at night only. Both are a decent med for pain management also (I am about to take mine as I am typing this), but it makes me very unsteady on my feet - another reason I don’t take it during the day - don’t want my eyes pecked out falling down in the barn 😆

I am sure it works wonderfully for your moggy 💕 I am seeing these type of meds being used more and more often in animals. I wonder if chooks can take it??
I don't know. My understanding was that it was a surprise research finding specifically in cats.
It is a very dramatic effect - she goes from a hissing, spitting monster to 'whatever'! It takes a couple of hours to wear off at home and she is a little wobbly on her feet - not too bad - basically she sleeps it off. But it is amusing to see how chill she is. She even purrs when you pet her tummy (normally she might bite if you do that uninvited).
Anyway, it is a game changer. Taking her to the vet was so stressful for her and therefore for me. She looked like she would explode and take the vet techs down with her.

A Good Day

It was cloudy and dreary today but the ladies just seemed to have an extra spring in their step. One of the shortest days of the year but they were zipping all around the yard today. Even Hattie came over to the deck! She hasn't been over to the house in it feels like months. Sadly I did not get a picture of her. But here's the rest of them all full of vim and vigor.

That sounds like a lovely time out. What are they snacking on there? Sunflower seeds?

Hey @RebeccaBoyd

Came across this message - might need an update on your lovely flock and maybe we can think of some new names for this coming year’s babies 💕💕
Wow, lots of changes since that list was made.
Ok here goes.
Marans: Bubba, Holly, Bunny, Lilly, Baby, Corona and Grackle
Silkies: Branch and Poppet
Cochins: Flurry and Gryffyn
Buff Orp: Siri
Queens: Berthie and Lassie
White Leghorns: Peep 1 through Peep4
Speckled Sussex: Spot and Dottie
Barred Rocks: Trudy and Judy
Easter Egger: Owly
Game: Momma Hen, the old bat is still going strong.
Crosses: Raven the new queen, Squirrel, Blueberry, Goose, Karen, Spooky

No chicks currently or in the works right now. Stable flock with 2 mature roosters. This coming spring I would like to hatch off a few silkies between Branch and Poppet, other then that I really do not want to add to my flock. I do need to make a decision this coming year though. Branch and Bubba will be 3 this spring. If I want to have a son of Bubba's to keep I will need to do a fall hatch or a spring hatch in 2025 with the plans on keeping a boy. I want that son to be raised with his father under a stable flock, it works for me.

Grand total right now: 30

Meanie spent another night on the floor. :( I've decided to insulate it a bit with cardboard as suggested, and just let things be, at least thru the holiday weekend. Thanks for putting up with all my fretting over this dilemma.
We are here to listen even if we don't have answers. :hugs :hugs
