Wow that’s a lot of stress, sure hope everything works out ok with the frost bite. 💕
Hope so too... Sir cuckoo's stuff has turned black already, and some of the hens are losing tips (Arabella stayed out in the nest box in -40, the coldest night, and that's when she chose to stay there. If I hadn't come along and plucked her out of the nest box, she'd probably be dead), so the worry's sort of over now. I also forgot to include that I had an outbreak of external parasites (mites) and only Big Buff has them. He has a lot of butt fluff so I'm guessing that's why.

You so have to! Show us what you get!
I'm still on the fence for now, but I'm looking at Rochester hatchery.

The chicks are really expensive, and they don't even come sexed. But I'm looking at this one because you get a mix of all the breeds.

Peavey Mary hasn’t yet posted their catalogue for Chick Days. I plan on ordering some Brahma and I am hoping they will offer some Appenzelle Spitzhabin (spelling?), their site will be up next week they say.

They are provided by Miller Hatcheries, maybe some other hatcheries as well? I was looking for Dark Brahma. (I think you spell it Appenzeller Spitzhauben... not too sure about it myself) I will definitely look at the site!

Don’t know Miller either are they local to you?

I was quite surprised Peavey brought them up from Hoover, if they don’t offer any Appenzellers I’ll get a couple of beliefelders.

Of course I want to order when I have broodies to care for them, I was happy with the job Sophia did last year with her 4 Hoover chicks I bought at Peavey. So I won’t get anything until summer likely. And I only want 2 of each (4 total).
