Horses that winter outdoors get a very fuzzy look to them with their winter coat...and shed in in clumps kinda like deer do. The sleek look seen in movies is usually summer coat
Horses, and cattle are plains animals, they prefer cold dry or hot dry climates of grasslands, prairie or steppe landscapes. Your location is ideal for them.

Damp wet climates are bad for them and they don’t like it. Also hot humid they don’t like. So Ontario is not a good place for horses.

And Donkeys do not grow winter coats like horses do, not do they shed like a horse. They are more desert animals, I have seen donkeys here with missing ears from frostbite. People think they are tough but they are not winter hardy for cold at all. And wet is just horrible for them. Sort of like a silkie chicken they don’t shed water very well at all.

Polish also have a herd time with rain! Silly boy why were you put in that rain?! He had a bad hair day.

Just wait till next month when she really starts shedding 😊 I get piles of it! The chooks try to steal it and eat it, so I have to put it in garbage bags right away. Crazy chickens!
You should save it. I just got back from meeting a guy who will reupholster a chair for me and he says horsehair never rots (he can reuse what is in there) and is incredibly expensive to buy!

He should go to stables and ask them to keep the stuff they clip off of horses in the winter. People who work their horses all winter or show them always clip their horses. Otherwise they sweat too much and can get a chill.

Sally had a disorder called Cushings and her coat wouldn’t she’s so I had to clip her in the summer.

Is Jaffar a bantam Cochin?

I would have got some Cochin bantams if Hoovers offered them through Peavey.

Today I will call Hoovers to see if they will add chicks I want to Peaveys orders. Only issue is Hoovers has a minimum of 5 chicks, I noticed that Peavy has a 3 chick minimum. That really doesn’t work for me just getting 2 Brahma and 2 Appenzeller- but I guess I can always sell them when they get POL (ya we know how that goes!).

But gosh I could get a bunch of Banty chicks and they really only count as half a chicken - right??
Yes Sir Jaffar is a Bantam, but only because he was hatched that way! :old

All this and you have a rotten cold. :(
I have a scratchy throat and runny nose so likely just a cold, but my headache is returning, I took a Naproxen for my head so that should help!

Just waiting for my truck to warm up so I can go up and check on my veterinarian’s cat, Franklin. He is their barn cat so I go up every couple days and give him some luvin and food and water 😊

Tax

I realized that it was Presidents day holiday today. That means I can’t get to the bank. What another wasteful excuse to be a lazy government and banking institution! They should give all of us a Taxpayer Day, where we don’t have to pay taxes on anything that day. I bet it increases revenue, sales and boosts the economy.
:thumbsup
