You need to hear Rebecca’s story about her Momma Hen the Old Bat. She sat on AND hatched out chicks last winter on the side of a basically a cliff near her house - she could see her but couldn’t reach her.

This is on Kentucky were they get winter! We all basically love Momma Hen - she’s can be vicious with her eggs and chicks apparently 💕❤️ But she’s the best mama hen ever! The things that hen has survived…. Well she’s amazing for a chicken. If I get a chance one day I’ll find her beginning story and post the link here.
I'd love to read that!

Well remembered!
This post was early on in the saga.

Let me stand corrected. Momma Hen is not just laying eggs in her little cave, the devil is full on broody and setting. I saw she came off for about a hour then went back. I waited until after dark and got out my good flashlight and went to see. She is on her nest. I can cry right now. I cannot get to her to remove the eggs. I do not know how long she has been laying nor how many she is setting on. I also do not know if today is even day 1. I feel this is karma biting me in the butt for teasing @Ponypoor . Lesson learned folks. Do not laugh at someone and say they are going to wide up with a sneaky broody hen when they do not want chicks. YOU will be the one with the sneaky broody hen.
Wow I had forgotten a bit about this part of Moma Hen ❤️

St Patrick’s Day

Or Paddy Day as we call it in my family

May good luck be with you Wherever you go, and your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow. May your days be many and your troubles be few, May all God's blessings descend upon you, May peace be within you, May your heart be strong, May you find what you're seeking wherever you roam.
