He’s being shaky like he is cold off and on.![]()
They are scary!Geez. We just had an earthquake. Those aren’t supposed to happen in NJ.

Poor guy! Maybe he feels cold, do you have him with you on your body, or on a heating pad he can move on and off of if he wants? Hugs to you bothHis crop was full last night but it’s empty this morning. So he’s processing his feed correctly.

The Earth Hath Shaken
The news was even on Beakbook.
Yesterday morning, at around three in the morning, I was woken up by my Dad, yelling for my sister to check chickens that were making a huge ruckus, like the sky had fallen or something bad had happened. I woke up, and went outside. They were fine. Dominica had gotten loose when my Mom had checked them, and had ran to my door. Felictas saw my leg in the light of my watch and snuggled up against it. I picked her up, and she started to scream. The light from my watch is something she recognizes, so I turned it on, stuck her in the coop, and then went back to mybedperch (per Josey's crazy rules).
Later that day I heard there was a 5.5 earthquake a few hours from here and that it was felt here in the city I live in. We almost NEVER get earthquakes here, so this is a rare thing. And it would explain why those chickens made a ruckus. One probably fell on top of another and caused the Empress to squak up a storm.
As far as I know, everything is fine here, and nothing broke. Except my sleep.
Did anyone else here in Texas feel it?
He’s warm and snug on me right now.Poor guy! Maybe he feels cold, do you have him with you on your body, or on a heating pad he can move on and off of if he wants? Hugs to you both![]()

Okay, I got the pictures. Oh man. They are 2 weeks old now right? From your description I bet you have a pair on your hands. The bigger chick, look at its face nightly. A spikey comb is a sign of a boy, but what you are looking for is wattle development. A good 90% of my pure Marans boys pop those wattles between 2 to 3 weeks. If you can grab clear pictures of their faces. Lets see them front on to look at combs and a side profile to look for those wattles. For me tail and wing feathering have never been reliable to sex the Marans. It is those combs and wattles.
