Ariana pomegranate & Wonderful pomegranate trees ~ on each side of bridge in chicken run ~ the hens love pomegranate seeds and will eat any low hanging fruit from the trees

Two 4'x 8' raised garden beds fenced off from chicken run ~ tomatoes, cukes, zuchini, other squashes, bell pepper, etc. while DH has a few container pots of his herbs, chili's & sweet pepper plants.

I used to sprout my own but it takes up so much space. This is just one of 4 trays and it wound up growing WAY more than necessary.

Growing up on a farm I've had my fill of canning & pickling in 100 degree heatwaves (mostly a lost art these days) so we've resorted to hobby gardening now w/ foods & plants the chickens are safe being around.

DH calls our cage the "Hen-itentiary" !!!

Boarded my horses at a place and the lady had chickens, her initials were KF so she had a sign on the hen house KFC I laughed when I saw it, she told me it stood for Karen fosters chickens hahahahaha

Been crazy busy here with work and all, hope everyone is doing ok!

The little minx trucked me AGAIN
After three days in broody jail Tassels was all ‘I’m over it’.
She was standing not sitting, and talking in a normal voice.

So I let her out.

She didn’t even pause to look around, let alone poop or bathe, but ran straight into ‘her’ nest box.


I left her there for a few hours so we could fix up the hanging jail. The chains clank when she moves around like she is in a chain gang!
And for 2fer Tuesday here is Bernie checking up on her.

Xzit has gone broody again and is sitting on the eggs from yesterday. She’s a tough girl and she will argue with me about this situation!

Has little Rudy cosied up to the big girls yet? If he has, there's a slim chance of fertile eggs.

OMG that’s awesome - hilarious, but awesome! I wouldn’t have gone to that trouble - I would have just let her sit and brood.

I visited Tassels in jail when I went to close up. I like the new hanging jail - it puts her up on my level and lots of fresh air coming up from under her.
We have a few nights where it will be quite chilly at night. I am hoping the cold air will help snap her out of it.
She doesn’t look very impressed with me.

I think I would only need it if I had several patients to deal with. I have a brooder/hospital built in already.
I didn’t think it was fit for broody jail because it has a solid floor and roof.

Slim at best. The Rockettes have nothing to do with Rudy yet. But we are working on his crowing and the dip wing dance.
