:hugs So sad you had to go thru that! We've all lost or had to rehome birds here so we feel your pain. Is your rehoming permanent? Noticed you've been registered on BYC for several years?
It’s permanent for those birds! Haha! Meaning no way will the new keepers part with them. It was a good decision. They live within a mile of me so I visit a couple times a week.
I need to do some work on my set up before getting more chickens. In the meantime we’re going to do some traveling before we’re too old.

Dark times are upon me my friends. Shameful times.

This morning for the first time in years I had to run to the store to buy eggs!!!

Rosie has a friend over this weekend and they are baking a cake today. I did not know about this cake plan and sold my last dozen yesterday. I did not have a egg left in the house after making cornbread for dinner last night. My girls are a bunch of free loading molting slackers right now. I got 3 yesterday. Today if the pattern holds I will get 1 if I am lucky. Starting next week I am hoarding every single egg I collect for Thanksgiving baking.
Only Lady Featherington is laying here and that's beck l because of her setting this year. Otherwise there would be none at FBA. Mrs BY Bob had to buy eggs to bake as well.

There’s a ranch I know in California that has a wonderful place to rest and relax. There’s chickens there too. :D A river just down the highway, and an airport only minutes from the ranch.

TEEHEE! Get Silkies! A flock of them will take turns laying eggs all year-round....that is,

if you can handle them going broody year-round,

getting bullied by bigger birds,

teaching them how to or trimming their eyebrows for them,

making multiple shelters for them cuz they can't fly from danger...

...other than those issues I guarantee you'll have decent-size eggs year-round :lau:celebrate:gig

Airport…..yes! When I rehomed my hens I told family and friends that In the next year or two I’m spending as much time as I can on airplanes! ✈️

Now it is time for some silkie love. It will probably end up being 2 post but here are the pictures I took of them yesterday.

Oh Marie. I missed so many important things. :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs hugs my friend.

It is heartwarming to see princess in her new home with her new friends. You have surely done right by her. It seems she has wonderful new place to live. These decisions are hard but what is best for our friends is most important. I'm proud of you for putting her first and doing this. It seems you found the perfect people to care for her.
My dog passed away on Sunday, I kept thinking Saturday because my head and heart was so traumatised. I saw her on her own on Monday and thought I have too do better for her remaining life.

I miss them enormously, there's a huge gap without them. But she's so happy there it's the best ever decision for her.

She has 3 friends already. I'll have more pictures soon
Here's one from Wednesday, she's chatting to the flock outside and driving that poor turkey nuts

My toys were these:
Lite-Bright
Spirograph
Sno-come maker
Creepy crawler maker
GI Joe collection
Electric slot car sets
Matchbox cars and eventually Hot wheels cars. (That don’t work on the slot car tracks by the way)
And other toys that I don’t remember having played with.

The Beauty Parlour girls ~ so cute!

60's toys? I was a kid in the 40's ~ it was 10-inch naked rubber molded dolls you had to clothe yourself & really special if it had arms, legs, & head that moved, buggies & doll strollers identically mimicking the human baby carriage models (not the multi-colored cartoon resin doll strollers nowadays), miniature doll houses w/replica miniature metal & wood furniture, & tricycles were for girls & boys. The boys had foot-pedal cars, toy dump trucks & toy fire engines, cowboy outfits w/realistic hats/guns/holsters & the traditional nurses & doctors play sets. Goodness, Disney wasn't making multiple theatre movies yet nor mass marketing any of their Mickey or princess stuff yet.

I do remember Woolworth's & dime/drug stores started carrying post WWII Japanese imported cheap miniature plastic toys ~ tiny miniature tea sets, tiny pink rubber baby dolls inside miniature buggies, miniature farm animals, tiny cars w/ wheels molded on ~ ahhh, memories of yesteryear! Mind you, there wasn't a phone or a TV on our farm till 1950. Our play things were farm animals!
