RC will simply say they're pretty chickens....well Alex will debate that. Cuckoo silkies have red combs is new to me.
I must admit that I do see Alex's and Aurora's point about silkies - I don't think I would have spontaneously guessed they were chickens at first sight!

A cross between a rabbit and a chicken - wasn’t that how they were described when first brought from the Far East?

Speculation:

Cuckoo markings brought in by crossing to something else. Back cross to silkies to get feathers right and body shape...dunno how long that might take. Also dunno if given enough time the black skin could be reestablished or if the cuckoo markings get consistently lost when the black skin is present.
Who gives a fat frogs patootie what Alex thinks anyway :idunno
Silkies are not chickens! They are rats with fine clothing

Jenn - I have been looking at Hoovers and they Chantclar chooks - eggcellent dual purpose chooks! And really cold hardy, good for our climates.

And Russian Orlof. Have you given any thoughts to finding a Tolbunt breeder around you? Your very fortunate to have so much variety down there.

I can’t wait to see your chooks you get in the Spring - I will be living vicariously through you ♥️♥️♥️
Yeah I'll have a tough time deciding what to get!
