I opened the door to the coop, but nobody wanted to come out into the rain. It’s a lot warmer under the porch than the coop, but the rain is an obstacle. I’m keeping Dakota in with me. She’s good company

I was thinking the same thing that cuckoo barring crossbreeding passes on the red comb. I'm going to look up comb colors for Silkies. I believe European standards accept "mulberry" combs which is a dark wine color but pure "red" is not acceptable. Not sure but I believe it's the same SOP in USA too.Thank you!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but with cuckoos, I had read the red comb is a cuckoo trait due to the barring, especially with males. I think our female had a red comb too, kind of pink rather.
I could have been led totally off track though.
