The chooks are mad. They can’t go outside it’s still only -12C and the wind makes it feel even colder.

Everytime o go out the door they all come galloping only to come to a piled up halt when the cold air comes in her and they see the snow. Hahaha wimps.

But I would rather they were not outside I need to keep the barn closed up to keep the inside a bit warm, helps keep the water buckets from freezing and the chooks water also.

Only 149 days unto our May 2 4 weekend and our ‘start to Summer’ hahaha.

Oh amd happy Winter Solstice everyone!

Can't do the chicken days currently, but I can do Caturday and pony Sunday! Murray, the matching kitten to my favorite, Biscuit, was feeling pretty goofy one day last summer. It was only a couple weeks after this picture that he went to his new home. His new owners love to spoil their cats, (the cat they already had was MASSIVELY fat,) so Murray is living it up there with his sister Daisy, (named by the little girl who adopted her.)

These Eyes....

Here are Hattie's eyes prior to treatment tonight.

Right
She was holding it partly closed but did open it somewhat prior to the antibiotics.

Left
This was how it was the whole time prior to treatment.

During her health check and eye treatment tonight Hattie was a great patient so she was rewarded with all the corn she could eat.

Her craw was empty at 9:00 pm tonight after 4 hours of sleeping so she went back to bed full.

You can see in the video that after treatment her eyes were wide open again.
GOOD JOB! So relieved to see recovered birds 🧡

Is Hattie considered blue or lavender?

The lizard tank has been scrubbed down with disinfecting wipes. It will get a water+vinegar rinse before it is used again.

Am I crazy or would this be a decent option for brooding chicks? It's I believe 3ftx2ftx2ft
Could raise a couple bantams in there...

Likely be ok for the first week. After that it would be too small, I know with Mr and Mrs LC by the time they were a week old they were flying up on things and by 2 weeks they were into everything! Little brats!

The other thing is that you would have to come at them from above. I have found doing this really freaks them out. I have a large dog crate I put up on the counter here in the feedroom and they can see me when I open the door and they come to see me.
