It is truly scary to me that we could transmit bird flu to our flocks by giving our cats something to eat! Please be sure to wash your hands carefully and thoroughly after feeding your cats or dogs. If it can be in cat food it can be in dog food.

I am mad at him. So mad he had me in tears after what I did sunk in.

I am mad that for so long he showed such promising behaviors. I am mad he made me fall for him. I am mad he made me do something that I have only had to do once before. I am mad I miss him already.

Oh no! How scary, I have not heard this here in BC, Canada.

I guess the take away here is to ensure the feed we give to our pets is also cooked well.

Factory farms are the culprit in these pathogens’ spread. I really wish they would limit the number of birds held at these farms. So sad.

Do not go down the woulda coulda shoulda path.

You gave him a lovely life, better than he would have ever had elsewhere. You need to protect the rest of the flock, that includes George and wee Turkey. Next Spring you will have more chicks to worry about, you cannot have him terrorizing the hens and babies.

You did the only humane thing - passing off to someone else could have meant him suffering as a fighting bird, or maybe not being cared for properly.

Go easy on yourself, remember - he had a good life with you. It could have been far worse for him.

And horse poo too it seems - slipped on a nice juicie horsie poopie this morning - thanks Reenie!

Raw feed, made from Turkeys, not surprising to me - but extremely frightening.

In this case what about beef jerky that isn’t heated to kill pathogens? I might think twice about eating that now.

And, make sure anything I give the chooks (meat wise) is well cooked. Crazy!
