No Spring Chicks in GA
Georgia officials suspended the sale of poultry in the state after confirming a positive case of bird flu in a commercial operation, threatening one of the state’s prime industries.

Glad I don't live there. We need a better solution to this disease.
I have been doing some hard thinking lately, and have decided to hold off on getting chicks for a little while. While I am not anywhere near Georgia, I live in an area with a lot of wild birds and geese, and before I get chickens again, I need to have a solid plan on how to best to keep them safe. Bird Flu is also a serious danger to outdoor cats, and at this point, I need to take care of the animals I have and lower the risk for them before bringing in new ones.

That’s admirable of you. AI really is the cancer of the new millennium

STRAW!
we are expecting a lot of snow today so i have the girls a pile of straw to play in. I think this video of them playing in the straw is interesting. I took video from 2 cameras at the same time. One is an older camera with no sound. Enjoy watching the girls at work.

Hattie was in the coop cuddled up next to a heater.

They will be kept busy digging through that 😊 love how Aurora enforces her straw 👍

Sorry to say, I have ear infections, sore throat, headaches, chills, fever 🤒 and body aches all over. Other than that, I’m good! Chooks are fine
Oh crap! I am not happy to hear this. Please drink plenty of fluids and take some Tylenol (acetaminophen is the generic name and about 1/4 the price of the brand name Tylenol).

Sure hope you feel better soon.

Gosh that’s so sad.

These big factory farms are such breeding grounds for all sorts of things.

I had an interesting dream last night. I had 15 chickies, 5 black french marans, 5 bielefelder, and 5 cream legbar. But it was weird because I had to carry the box they were in everywhere. Hubby was taking me to a farm store to buy hand warmers. When we got there the clerk said I should get 5 more chicks so I'd have an even 20. I was browsing the bins when kiddo started making noise so I woke up.
So 45 it is then! 😉
