Originally it was Welsummer x Barred Rock. That was in the UK in the 1940s. But now they breed true and are not hybrids. I believe the Poultry Club of Great Britain recognizes them as a breed and has an SOP for them, however in the US they are just regarded as a type of Welsummer.Ooooh, extremely cute! Thanks! Sounds more like a greasy French fries and hamburger dream to me!I dreamt I brought Cooper back into the flock and after an initial showdown with Ralphie, Ralphie winning, it worked out. I hope that was revelation!!!![]()
You were lucky...sink baths! My farm baths as a kid were in a galvanized washtub or porch basinThe old Belfast sink was all we had when I was tiny and it served us well, it was even my bath![]()

That must look magnificent. One of my girls lays dark speckled eggs & I love it. She’s a barnyard mix lolThey lay a darkish, terracotta sort of brown egg with speckles. They are not prolific layers.
Sorry for your lossBernie who died recently was a Gold Welbar and she laid a couple of times a week.
They sure canOh my, I had no idea Swedish Flower Hens could have crests!
Wow, that’s awesome! Will definitely take a look at this later tonight. They sure canThe crests came in with the second import group that Greenfire Farms brought in. The story of how they got to the U.S. and how the breed gained some popularity is documented here on BYC and it’s really cool to go back and read through.
