You are truly a rennaisance woman. Thank you.
Of course our little ‘dinosaurs’ are so adaptable I feel they will be like crocodiles and survive forever!

And…. Who thinks up this math (statistical analysis - I took that course it’s crazy math!), I wonder in 100 million year what any creature alive then will think of us Hoomans??!!

Tassels has been out for 8 minutes which is a record in recent days.
She ate a full breakfast: bacon, egg, sausage, tomato, potatoes, and toast with a side of plantains and a kiwi fruit garnish.
She has drunk wild water and is snacking on grass.
Last night I packed ice all around her in the broody cage. I cannot tell you how mean I felt doing that on an already cold night, but I am really hoping it worked.
Signs are encouraging but she is still making her broody sounds.
I don’t trust her!

Fingers crossed!

Hopefully she stays out with her friends.

Those of you who stock up on eggshells for your hens... How/where do you keep them? Do you rince them and keep them in the fridge? Or just a cool, dry place? I'm going to ask my grandma to start keeping the shells when she uses eggs, just as an extra sort of supplement/treat. My girls like the OS so I don't need to supplement with egg shells but they like to eat them so I want to 😆

40 minutes out and about. Then she gave a great battle cry and went straight to the nest boxes to sit on the egg that Calypso just laid.
She is back in jail and I am off to get more ice.
I was right not to trust her!

I have a metal bowl in the kitchen (actually it is a small metal kids bucket) and I toss them in there.
Whenever I use the oven I pop the bucket in after I have finished and while the oven cools down. That is enough to make them easier to break up.
I then use the base of a bottle to grind them up and transfer them to a container to take out to the coop.
All my friends know to collect their egg shells in paper bags (they get smelly in plastic) and bring them round when they visit. I give those the same treatment.

You still have live chicken judging with AI? We haven't had live chicken judging at fairs in years in PA.
We do still have live poultry shows here in Ohio. But then Ohio is poultry show central with the National one being up in Columbus. I am also curious about what will happen this year. They canceled it in 2015 for AI and in 2020 for Covid due the gathering restrictions but those are the only times it has been canceled. The local fairs state and county also still have them.

I personally side with your state in this.
