Not nearly as windy today here as it was yesterday. It's cooler though. Yesterday it was 75⁰F when I woke up at 7AM... Today it was 35⁰F. It's warming up though! The girls loooove their outside time and who am I to not let them have it?

Magrat got down when I asked*

We'll put the garden netting over the top soon, and get the shelter and a roost in too. Nearly done!
Do your girls respect the bottom fence border & don't try to squeeze out? I used this green netting to keep my girls temporarily out of my garden work space but a crafty Silkie figured how to push thru under it.

Everyone, I have some really really sad news. This doesn't explain why I was gone for a few days, this literally happened today. This is hard to believe and I'm not lying but Grandma has left us. She might've had breathing problems but I'm not so sure. I just came home and my mom showed me where Grandma was. I thought she was hiding in a new spot from the sun, but no. She told me Grandma died. She didn't make it to May. My heart feels heavy and I feel sick to my stomach. I was really hoping she'll make it to her 10th birthday, but no. I'll never have another chicken like her. Good bye, Grandma. I don't think I'll ever get over this. Here are the last few pictures of her. Yesterday, we got new baby chicks and they are starting to annoy me now that Grandma is gone.

I'm so sorry she's gone. But for her to live such a happy life so long is amazing. :love:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs

What lovely happy pictures. Great memories of a wonderful little grandma 🫂 🤗

Oh. So sad. Grandma was a very special lady. She had a lovely and long life with you. Don’t be sad, remember all the wonderful times. :hugs :hugs:hugs

I am so sad to hear this. When Penelope died I was sad she couldn’t have made it to see 10. But like Penelope I know Grandma had a lovely life with you.

Give the chicks some time and they will slowly help to fill the void - hopefully.

♥️

Today is their first day in there. We have the fence coming out on the ground about 16-20 inches on all sides and it's pulled really tight. We'll use landscaping staples to tack it down if necessary.

They're liking it though!

Porcelain D'uccle is a very real possibility (and is lavender, washing over the red to get the pale tone, I think). Is that Pearl on the left? Feathered feet?

If the lower left chick is the one you are speaking of, I think there is too much grey compared to the chick from MyPetChickens - but then there could be variation - otherwise, seems a possibility. Also, IF it is a porcelain D'Uccle - very thick/raised comb spot for a girl if it is just 2 weeks - but would say need another 2 weeks or so to be sure on the sex..
The one on the right appears to be yellow based from what I can see (speaking of beak, legs. ) Should be white with grey over legs like one on left and above - and have white beak, possibly with darker spots, not.a full yellow beak. That said, there are other colors of D'Uccles - not just the Porcelain (Milli-fleur D'uccle, etc.) Again, this is just going on picture you posted from My Pet Chicken and a quick search online, I personally know nothing on the breed.

Images of color varieties of D'Uccles

If your TSC gets their chicks from Hoover, Hoover has bantam Buff Cochins (chick on right?)- not sure what else it might be that they have. Might they (TSC) get their chicks from somewhere else, too??

:idunno Sorry, that is all I got for you.:idunno. ?Maybe RM will have more thoughts - she has a good eye when looking at pics of chicks/chickens, and quite the reservoir of knowledge on feathering/colouring, so. might have more suggestions.
None of the pictures I posted for reference on Porcelain D’Uccles are of Angel. They were examples I found on the internet. Yea she has feathered feet. Here are some more pics of Angel from today. Including one of her showing off that she knows how to fly

She is 3 weeks old now.

I got her and the two gold-laced chicks from Murdoch’s, not TSC. No clue where they get theirs from, I need to ask. They gave them two me because I drove 40 minutes to get some silkies (“we have a whole bin full of bantams and lots of silkies”). They had 7 bantams and no silkies. :rant

A few strategically placed fencing stakes/gardening stakes (the kind for landscaping cloth that you put under mulch in a garden bed to control weeds), will prevent them from doing that - if they try.

I regret giving my porcelain d'uccle(booted bantam) and golden sebright away last year. They were tiny and amazing little birds. According to the lady, they are happy with her, but I wish I had infinite coops for all the pretty birds.

Hanging with their "food boobs" out over the edge. 😆
Mother in law isn't sure what to name her 4 yet.
