They are Lavender Orps. The picture might have been a little dark. My chocolates were a definite brown when I got them. These are more of a purple/blue/gray, with some yellow undertones.

I have wanted Lavender Orpingtons ever since the first time I saw a picture of Hattie. I said OMG, a purple chicken.

I have seen them in feed stores a few times but they were always straight run. Finally found pullets.

I really wish I bought a few more - she is a very sweet hen - though she has been learning to be an escape artist from Butterscotch and Tippy 🤨

What is up with all the little ones? I give them a fresh ear of corn 🌽 and they like the stringy stuff on the husks better?
Especially little Gizmo. That one digs through the trash to get the stuff.
Mine also like the silk Tassles on the corn cobs. Maybe they think it’s worms 😉

It’s just constant ongoing bang bang ongoing - so annoying! So much for peace and quiet here.

The horses are just running now - I daren’t go and bring them in, if they panicked in the stall and fell and broke a leg it would be very difficult to get them out of the barn once euthanized. Not to mention dangerous for me! They weigh 1000lbs at least, I might be a 10th of that.

I was going to go for a ride but not now.

They really should go to the gun range (it’s not like we don’t have about a dozen around here), or go to Borden 10 min away and enlist 👍😉

Even the chooks are all jittery, I am just hiding out here in the feedroom! No use trying to comfort them, just makes them more jittery if I am not acting naturally. So I stay in here away from them.

I was trying to plant the last of my tomatoes….

Mad as a wet hen

At least you're only dealing w/ noise. Here, the suburb idiots shoot off stadium fireworks into the night sky & 3-foot sticks w/burning debris still on the ends scorch up the cement driveways, sidewalks, parked cars, & rooftops. in the neighborhood. As I'm sweeping/raking, still finding debris around the property from the last holiday excuse from them shooting off junk (Cinco de Mayo & Mothers Day). Next orgy will be Memorial Monday! And then Fathers Day & July 4th!

TG our hens fall into deep torpor & sleep thru all the night racket!

My neighbours stopped after a few hrs, everyone is inside now, but every weekend it’s like this. And the dirt bikes - very noisy. It’s irritating that they move up here make so much noise, let their dogs and kids run amok. Frustrating.

I keep any eye on everyone with the barn cams, very handy.

There are the brats on the stall wall to the very left, clyde and a couple of the Buff Orps on the floor.

Brats!

Well I am heading out to put them to bed. Have a lovely evening everyone.
