I was hoping for a better end for Myrtle like living on a farm the rest of her days💕... but in retrospect maybe it was a better end or she would've just suffered PTSD the rest of her life.
I was worried they would be forced to eat her. Somehow I knew the ending would be tragic.

Too bad they didn’t have cameras like today. See what she looked like, but I wonder if she wasn’t a Game Hen, they are good fliers.

As with all chickens there are individual personalities. If you remember though, I recommended a Polish rooster to you because of their smaller size and reputation as calmer roosters. It seems that reputation is well earned.

Again it is important to remember that each chicken is an individual and may behave completely out of sorts with a breeds reputation.

It has been my observation with horses also. Truly’s sister was a lovely girl, very quiet easy going, never gave me a moments trouble.

Truly though, she is temperamental, always fighting me, not trusting at all.

And of course same with people.

I had only been riding her a month and decided ‘hey let’s do a beginners Dressage class’ got a 4th out of 10 horses in this class, and a 5th in the second - pretty good for a fully who had barely been ridden and in a strange place far from home!

I am surprised the young men survived, and not the least bit surprised poor Myrtle was forgotten.

Tragic yes, but it sounds like she made a name for herself, seems to be many animals that have been companions to soldiers throughout the ages. Dogs, cats, horses, goats…. Why not a hen? We all know how smart chickens are ♥️
