Wow!Meyers has a "what's hatching" spot for this week's chicks. Going through and clicking on definite maybes...no baby pics or not conclusive pics
...switch to Cackle's for the ones they have as their pics amount to a library of pics (useful especially with a variety of feather patterns). That head spot means barring/cuckoo pattern every time....even when it's messed up stripes like my Cuckoo's were.
Gold and red down on chicks can go much lighter or much darker as adults. It's amazing how much variation there can be in that. For your light red fluffy darling, it was more this breed (hybrid/production) I feel is a maybe as a fill choice....until I saw the Buckeyes on the list. I think you're more inclined to go for unusual/breeds you've seen here.
Now, with more info on the little chippy, can I peg it too?
Best guess (you wouldn't get a bantam with all the big ladies, and chick size says standard size anyway): yellow legs, either a brown leghorn or a welsummer. White legs: speckled sussex or jubilee orpington. Other less likely possibilities: one of the Eggers, with the partridge olive egger top of that list.
Leg color says sussex or orpington (yes, pink is the white skin). You have a spotted lady. Which one.....you'll have to tell us or we have to wait to see adult body shape. This is the Golden Cuckoo Marans I think. Just noticed very fluffy legs!

Here is chippy showing off her leg color: pink. Is that white?

Bit worried about chippy - pooping a sort of clear gel. Doesn’t act ill. Is that usual for a very young chick. Don’t think I have ever had chicks on day of hatch before.
And yes, I am already a helicopter Mom!
I've paid attention to the black and white birds. The cookies and cream is the only one I'm aware of with the crest, 5 toes, and FEATHERED feet.Dang you are good. Just amazing.
I did not give them the Gro-Gel - the lady said it was just electrolytes and by the time i got home and realized they were too small for my usual chick waterer I forgot to mix it in to the water I gave them.Leg color says sussex or orpington (yes, pink is the white skin). The clear poop....did they give them that Gro-Gel stuff? I've never had chicks with it before so I dunno what it comes out like.
Any idea what goes into it? I am guessing Silkie, but I think it has regular feathers.I've paid attention to the black and white birds. The cookies and cream is the only one I'm aware of with the crest, 5 toes, and FEATHERED feet.
Golden Cuckoo....wow!I did not give them the Gro-Gel - the lady said it was just electrolytes and by the time i got home and realized they were too small for my usual chick waterer I forgot to mix it in to the water I gave them.
Maybe just stress - though compared to being shipped in the mail I don't think it was that stressful for them.
I wrongly thought they wouldn't eat in their first 12 hours so didn't give them food - stopped for water a few times - but no food. Maybe that stressed her out because they were all very keen to eat once in my bathroom.
And I believe chippy (I am really resisting naming them!) is a Speckled Sussex.
I basically got one of each non-bantam breed they had available on Monday. I was surprised much they had cut back their hatching for the summer.
Tax: I know, you will all get bored - but I am besotted so keep taking photos!

I'm thinking Mottled Houdan for keeping the 5 toes, the beard, and the mottling, but they appear to be partial crested, there has to be something else there. Houdans have white skin, and the CC doesn't have the silkie black skin, so...I'm betting only 1/4 silkie at most. What color skin and type of comb?Any idea what goes into it? I am guessing Silkie, but I think it has regular feathers.
