I think you’re right. But maybe it won’t matter, and at this point she needs to be handled a lot for care. And maybe they can have multiple mamas to share, like @rural mouse ‘s chicks?
I think I got lucky with that. Focus is mostly done too. Oddly, PITA seems to be mostly done at night but not during the day. It's warm enough that babies don't really need heat any more (they've feathered out faster than those I've raised inside) and the only areas left are heads (and those are patchy) and under wings.

Blondie and tailless got into a spat. Tailless is in the worst shape featherwise due to his slow feathering.

settled.

How things will play out with next broody, not a clue. I'm seeing the flared tail, back of head/neck flare and hearing the tuk-tuk from Jane....in the evening when it's go to roost time. She hasn't decided to brood, but may be thinking about it/flip the switch next spring. She tries now, she's out of luck. It's too late in the year and she's too low in rank to contemplate at the moment.

I 2nd the motion! Add some silver laced eggs from your neighbor. I bet she'd love some tolbunt adults to add to her laced in trade

Yep I should see if she wants to share in hatching a dozen.

But nope must resist

(Resistance is futile)
Not a good time to get babies I need to concentrate on my hunt….

(Resistance is futile)

Having a bunch of broody brats running around with babies is just bedlam!

Funny, mine seem to start going broody this time of the year up till November. Mine must be slightly cracked…. It’s soon winter! Who raises chicks in the winter anyways?!

Honestly I have handled my foster chicks lots before shoving them under the mamas, they soon forget about me! The little Brats!

And it does help that they have been handled and know what people are.

When’s the big day @RoyalChick
So probably the small hours of Friday morning. But I might get tempted to go a day earlier.
They are growing like weeds. Little Geronimo now has wing feathers for goodness sake. No wonder she is able to fly out of the tent!
They all know how to use the vertical nipples waterer though cookies has an interesting technique of pecking it over and over so it spills onto the little plastic lid underneath, and then she drinks the water off the lid. Whatever!

How about I get them and meet you at the border, have lunch and send you on your way with some eggs?

😉
For tolbunt eggs, I'd take vacation and meet you North Dakota/Minnesota/Manitoba. border....and swing by my sister's place, see the new baby (due any day), leave half the eggs with her, and incubate them. However, I have to do 3 weeks out. Or meet halfway on below the Lakes route

Can’t you apply for jobs while watching little chicks?
