There’s no way to fence our entire farm, and even if we tried to fence the immediate area around the house, which I doubt boyfriend will do, the farm equipment would end up taking it out. The only other option is totally enclose their run and not let them free range. We prefer to free range.
In your situation it looks like Pup is your electric fence & doing it quite heroically too 🥰

Two roos?????
Today I noticed this feather that's been sort of sticking out and kind of pointy on "Piccolo/Picabo" is now definitely iridescent!
Something's happened, not sure all the pictures are still here, aren't in the assembly of pics at the bottom .....have to post to see what comes through...I can fix it more easily on my desktop.

In the back, with Mr. Handsome on the right, and that might be Isabin front, she is pretty tailless these days

Here's a pullet and her tail, think it's Bea or Olive. Maybe with this breed line of Cackle they are all going to get some pointiness in the tail?

So very ❤️ pretty... I know too little about Buckeyes other than their origin & that they're bred for cold climates but hear so much good about them. Their deep color & temperament appeal to me but the sweeties wouldn't do so well in our humid SoCalif heatwaves. We have more months of hot weather here & fewer cooler months.

My Princess passed away last night. She was fine yesterday but was found dead this morning.
It's believed she had a heart attack. Crying 😢 😭

So sorry Marie. I know she was family to you. She was such a sweet hen. She was up there in age but you loved her obviously!
No words can describe the feeling of loss and possibly guilt you are feeling, I know you Marie. You probably think that you shouldn’t have left her there at the sanctuary, but as I consoled you before, you did right by Princess. Giving her other friends she could enjoy in her final days of life. You did right, so never forget that!
Sweetheart, anything less would be selfish of you. IMHO.
You could always come live with me. (Plenty of room and lots of other chickens to love) just saying.

Look at the saddle feathers. They're old enough that the pointy cascade is showing. The other is, I think, a moulting tail feather as most of the rest are growing in under it. That one's a pullet.

How old are they again, now? I have had a number of hens who have had a slight curve to one or two tail feathers. Her feather is no where near as long as a Roo's flag feathers. I don't see any pointy hackle or saddle feathers yet. What does the comb look like compared to your Shanai? Compared to the others?

I took delivery of a hanging scale like @Ponypoor showed in her video so I am going to start getting weights on everyone over the next few nights.
@Ponypoor - I am sure this is a silly question, but how do you get the chicken in the bag? And more importantly out of the bag?!
I will be doing this at night with my headlamp - only way I can touch anyone really - and normally I get them to stand on my arm from the roost and carry them that way to wherever I am going to treat them or trim them or whatever. I then tuck them under my arm like a football and pin them to my side so they can't flap. I am not quite sure how to get them in a carrier bag without them being upside down!

Stupid question tax: Tassels assembling her crew. That branch is about 4’ off the ground. Only Tassels and Geronimo fly up straight from the ground without using the ladder or the tree stump. Bucky is still outside digging in the leaves.
