@featherhead007 Just a couple of pictures yet, the beginnings of a build for a polycarbonate roof, in light lumber to supplement the tubing. Bracing is not begun yet. This is the second wire run that's at a "T" to the first wire run. The tarp is beat and a pain. Already have a roof over the first one, which leaks a little, haven't gotten up there to try to fix it yet, and it's still better than a tarp.

Second photo is the result of the excavation which upset the pullets I posted about. Excavated a swath to make it flat for the two coops to go. Still have to do the last bit by hand, pick and shovel, etc.

Kiddo has named the splash polkie "Spotty" and we're undecided on the buff silkie. Toying with Blaze or Rusty but I'm hoping for a girl and need girl names. Buffy is taken
Riddick loves his six new kids, and the rest of the birds have been very respectful of them too! I'm thinking at the end of the week I'll pop them into the ivory coop to sleep with the Navy kids.
Something I have observed, Navy's kids are noticeably bigger than the brooder raised ones. The tiniest silkie of hers is the same size as the polishes. Goes to show mama can get them more goodies I guess!

Yes your pics show a lot of great hiding places against hawks, I love your flower bushes. Would it be good against ground predators, that can sniff out animals? With no fence, the fox is free to explore at night and be very familiar with every nook and cranny. Maybe I'm too sensitized to all the predator losses that occur on this thread like clockwork. I'm too easily freaked out! It's bad enough they up and die so easily of disease by themselves and there's so little we can do about that.

Just yesterday Hazel was apparently nosing around in the woodsy area in the afternoon with everyone, and didn't appear with the Buff O.'s when everybody moved out of there, so a casual head count turned into a dread-filled check everywhere! She finally appeared after I had thoroughly scoured everywhere, lastly checking the nest boxes in case she had gone in there not feeling well and died.

She must have been foraging down one side towards me and my calls, but behind cover, as I was working my way up the other side. Of course she was unperturbed and looked at me like I was nuts. Which I am...!

Sorry about the chuckle but that’s like me - I count 4 times just to make sure I have them all!

Then freak out when someone is
Missing. Oi boy! Who knew chickens could be so stressful!

Pictures are sideways?

For Mugs Monday, Splash with a very beautiful rose colored comb. It’s such a pretty pink. Not sure the photo does it justice.View attachment 4220764View attachment 4220765
Weird, these show upright in my photos. Not sure why the site is rotating them.

And your too?!

Is this on purpose with your two? Or a glitch with the new upgrades ???
A new addition to our tribe, momma is shown in the picture, daddy must be Mr Wyandottey. That’s an interesting mix. And this little one is so cute. That makes an even 20 in my tribe. View attachment 4220694

And another one!

Yep it’s a bug.

Ummmm do you have more babies?!!!
