Taking two more flashlights to silky land at dark trying to candle my eggs see if they are developed or just rotted

Candled eggs on Tuesday Day 10 and all but 5 looked fantastic! That's 22! We saw movement in over half and I wasn't lingering to watch for it in most either. There were 2 possible blood rings but not sure and 3 others that I wasn't sure about so Saturday on day 14 I'm going to candle those again and see if they need to be removed or not. So 22 good out of 27 so far!

Update on Crack
Here he is 21 days ago. Cracked from shipping and glued with New Skin. 3 other eggs were smashed beyond repair

Here is one hour ago. Fresh out of shell.

Group shot with his girls. Chipmunks are girls 4 girls 1 Roo Crack so far. 11 eggs left one has pipped.

Here’s what’s left of his shell. Not a clean pip and zip but still he made it on his own. No assist on my part.

Literally blew a hole in it.

Well... I'm out. The chick must've pipped and started cheeping earlier today, because my broody killed it. I checked on her this morning when I let the other chickens out and everything was fine... came back an hour and a half later to find the egg pecked into a pancake. Needless to say I will never let her go broody again. I'm pretty shocked but I knew this was a possibility from the beginning. She's a BCW Polish so she's not a broody breed at all.
I brought the chick up to the house and got it out of the egg. This is the first time we've ever tried to hatch chicks and I didn't think I would cry but when I saw its feet I did. It was half silkie so it had five perfect little toes. Today was either day 19 or 20 and it was perfectly formed and so cute. In pictures it looks a bit dark but in person it's definitely blue. I'm really bummed. We decided to name it Boo. Going to bury it under the rosebushes this evening.

I totally understand. i felt so bad when my first hatch died. I now have 4 hatched and 10to go .

Mine will be black I think lavender rooster ameracauna.
I have new batteries in one of my flashlights can see into green here in the house so will take it to silky at dark a hour from now

Glad you said again what you used. Is New Skin the smelly stuff? I tried something similar once, but the odor was so strong, I threw it out.

Allergic to most of Avon products have been since a kid hey I want ask what ya all use to candle eggs BF want to build me a candling box we are venus and mars on it

Yes the smell of it reminds me of super glue. This was an older container of it so it was thick. Still smelled. The membrane wasn’t torn on this egg at least I didn’t see any leakage. Two coats of it.
