Funny thing my wife just gave me permission to go to the auction to get some chickens I like cause my hatch failed

Moved little welli to brooder this morning and she is doing great! Smudge and BO have pipped and mostly zipped so hopefully will be out tonight. Planning to candle 3 remaining when we move them to brooder if no progress by then.

both hatched about 10 minutes before we returned from dinner! only problem is that I don’t know what breed smudge is! From the smudged code I thought black sumatra but it wasn’t a white egg. “smear” is a whitish egg making me think it would have been a blue andalusian or a black sumatra but I think it is DIS so probably will never know.

I didn't even realize it but I'm setting eggs tonight that should hatch on Thanksgiving day lol

i’m doing pharaoh quail for thanksgiving hatch...setting on Monday or Tuesday (as soon as incubator is cleaned and ready!)

from the look of “smudge” I’m actually leaning toward speckled sussex which was one that I really wanted when I ordered! will post pics once dried and in the brooder! then maybe y’all can help me out with id!
