Official Squatch Watchers

I swear I'm losing it. I forgot to tell you guys Tractor Supply this evening and they have a sign up in my local store that said they would have chicks there on the 19th. So if anybody else is on the lookout your stores maybe around the same time.

Oh man. There's an Agway by me, and I have been emailing the lady that owns it begging her to get Seramas and D'Uccles (I already told DH last night "I am getting more chickens and I don't care what you say!"). They have their chick schedule on their website and I am dying....they have all these funky breeds.

Their tagline is "Jersey's Best Place to Pick Up Chicks," lol!

Morning PBM!!

I am looking forward to pics when you get your serama!!

Lol at pasties.

Did you ever hear of them? The pasties?

I wonder: Do any of the Squatchers have (or had) Seramas? I really want to learn everything I can before I get this breed. Because DH is like "absolutely no birds in the house" and I've heard conflicting stories of how cold hardy they are, if you have to have a separate heated coop, etc.

What's your plan for housing yours when you get them, Suz?

I have heard of pasties. My granny used to make them.

The smallest breed I ever had were Sebrights and they lived inside. All 3 were cockerels so I only kept them about a year then sold them to a nice family.

I hear different things about keeping Seramas too so am also curious.

Finally got my pictures uploaded.

I've been trying for the past hour to upload some chicken pictures I took earlier this morning. They kept failing. I finally got them all loaded.

Here are the Cockerels that are on Death row for today. I will process them later today after I get the Milk Drinker down for his nap.

It looks like Chicken Surprise is a purty little pullet!

But, she is definitely not all Buff.

This BSL girl is HUGE she is as big, if not bigger than her cockerel brothers. I think her Mama was one of my Dom/Buffs with that coloring.

This little pullet is about the same size as chicken Surprise. I think her Mama was a pure Dom and she just has a little red from daddy.

This handsome little fellow HAS to be from one of my Dom/Buffs. His highlights are buff colored and he has a single comb, meaning his mother only had only one copy of the rose comb gene. The other two cockerels in the bunch were more flighty and harder to catch. So I didn't take pictures of them.

you ..you ..you have GREEN GRASS :love:ya
I have over a ft of snow :hit

We have tulips coming up and the trees are budding. Grass is green, so is the moss...

There are several people on byc with seramas, so you should be able to get some good info from them.

I'm out with DD#4 getting her drivers knowledge test done so she can get her learners permit so I can teach her to drive. It will be an interesting experience, especially considering the vehicle she'll be driving is a 2000 ford explorer under the mercury mountaineer name. It's the fun one that rocks and rolls more than it should, cuz that's just how that year, make and model is. I'm rather nervous about her driving it, but it's the only option at the moment. It's also our spare vehicle, so hopefully she's a good driver. :fl She'll get her permit on Monday, and we'll go out driving at night when there's less traffic and more room in case of mistakes.
