Official Squatch Watchers

My tiny human slept in my bed for a long time (single parent). It wasn't until she couldn't stand my snoring that she really started sleeping in her own bed. She's 12 now and mostly sleeps in her own bed. Occasionally she'll crawl into my bed in the morning, but that's more of a "I'm awake & bored so I'm going to wake you up now" thing than a I want to sleep in your bed thing. So there is a dim light at the end of the tunnel for you guys. I didn't mind it so much when they were little, but my tiny human liked to flail in her sleep and i was hit/ kicked in the face many times. She's also a creeper, no matter how much space there is in the bed she would creep over towards me. No where was safe. 1 adult, 1 small child in a queen size bed and I'd still end up sleeping on the edge.

Picture it: In permanent sleep residence are 2 full sized humans, half a human (PIC), 2 dogs (30 and 40 pounds respectively). 3 cats rotate in and out throughout the night... all this in a king sized bed. Yeesh

It acted strange, no fear of me, looked ok..
 sometimes people don't like that I shoot predators so at first I just implied it had been taken care of... I ran it up the tree so I could go inside and get the gun..toting that pistol around hurts my back... but the things you see when you don't have a gun...

If someone gives you bollocks for protecting your pullets from predators... tell em to piss off! (see what I did there?!? ) :D

I will be adding more shade cloth to the cochin run. The big house has gigantic lilacs and tall trees so always has shaded areas.

On the left the roof of the coop is visible. The lilacs grew like crazy this year.

Your lilacs are gorgeous! I love them.

After deflating the top ring, the duckies finally made it into their kiddie pool!

It always is the nice one we loose isn’t it? :hit I am sure she had an amazing life with you but it is still such a shame :hugs

And I hear you about the heat. I got all worried Tuesday because my buff Cochin was acting...off. Lethargic and unwell. Made her sit in a sink of cool water until she perked up then went and added even more shade spots to the run. Fingers crossed neither of spends all summer with a sink full of chickens!
I went and got those metal feed pans on sale at TSC so the chickens can wade in them when they are hot . They love watermelon too.

You know how sometimes life just kicks us often.

This morning I fed my gals, put the dogs out, let the gals out and started clearing weeds.

Sunny my 4 year old BO came to see what I was doing. About 20minutes later she went in, laid her egg and went to the food dish. She promptly had a heart attack and died. I was there I saw it happen. At least she went quickly.

Could it have been FLHS...... Maybe.

Weight on Saturday was 6.5 pounds, feather condition awesome, activity level great, eyes bright, comb red and healthy, mites=none.

:hit My poor Sunny girl.
:hugs

There was a car accident several weeks ago, she was hit by a car that was being loaded into a trailer. They put her in a medically induced coma and they were slowly reducing the medication so she would wake up. Apparently they weren't sure about how she'd be mentally b/c of some spots they saw on her brain in a scan.
That’s terrible!
