It has been a tough year so far.

I know I still have more hens than I need but would like them all to stay living.

My big group are running the yard. I like having nesting crows in the neighbors tree. It means the hawks are staying away and my gals can be out more.

Ahhh, nothing like the blood curdling screams the first time it rains on your chicks. I lead them to the dry spot under the coop, don't worry i'm not mean enough to let them melt or float away.

Totally agree on the crows (and ravens)!
I watched a battle yesterday as three beat the heck out of a hawk and chased it off.

I do laugh a little about the crows. My neighbor 2 doors down has a crow call. I know he is seeing hawks around when I hear him calling the crows.

Awesome neighbor!! He does it for all of the chicken owners in the hood.

Love my crows, got one that I feed in the morning. I divvy out two pieces of bread to the derps "not healthy I know but i sneak any wormer or anything else I have to on that bad habit bread." Anyhoo, the crow has been stealing eggs and one morning it lit on my sawhorse so I put a chunk of bread close and the crow took it. Every morning now i'm feeding the derps and a crow. I'm trying to get it to take from my hand, prolly not my best idea but it isn't taking eggs now.
