Official Squatch Watchers

How long has she been sitting?
I gave her golf balls to encourage her to use the nest I wanted on the 8th. Gave her real eggs the 13th. Didn’t block her in till I gave her the real eggs. I do have Kaytee baby bird food too. I could mix that up and see if she likes a slurpy. LOL

The 8th and the 13th of MAY?? She's just getting started! Me thinks you are worrying too much. :D Sorry, just my opinion. I have so many broodies, I rarely worry about them, but maybe I don't worry enough. :hu

This made me laugh! Thank You! I’m keeping an eye on her. Refreshed her water and food. She always liked to dirt bathe so I set her in the indoor bath tub and she sat there. I think she ate some dirt...

So the ducks are starting to zip......slowly.......
And the chicks are peeping!!
:wee

It's a good distraction, it's our Anniversary and my hubby is back in Oklahoma working:hit:hit:hit
First one we haven't spent together.
Did I mention: :hit:hit:hit
Sorry Hope, at least you have hatching to keep you busy. I got 2 calls today, one wanted 30 quail chicks and the other wanted 10 guinea keets. I am spreading signs and business cards around.

Thanks. :hugs
Awesome I sold about 70 quail eggs today..
I hope to get one your level with the selling soon... just gotta get set up fist.. starting with quail make it easy. But the chickens is hard, I like the way they are all different with the "Barnyard mix" and people want pure breeds /: but I'm sure there are alot that will buy them too.

Good that you laughed. I was trying to be funny and not mean. I'm the un-worry wart. I'm the mom that picks the baby pacifier up off the dirty floor, quick wipe on my shirt, and pops it back in the baby's mouth. :lau

But something for you to consider.... I assume since you gave her fertile eggs, you want her to sit. The more you mess with her early on, the more chance you run of breaking her broody spell. I know there are horror stories of broodies dying on the nest, but its a perfectly natural thing for them to behave the way they do. We change thru 9-months of pregnancy too, right? But eventually things go back to normal.

I almost always separate breeds for that reason, you can ask more for purebreds and the feed costs are the same. In TN i had 20 plus coops plus runs and tractors , sold and shipped a lot of hatching eggs. And chicks.

She is the most determined broody. I had a hard time breaking her this winter. I have tree branch roosts and I swear I moved her from the nest one night and she tried to brood a bump on the log!
I hand fed her in the nest and she ate pretty good. Drips of water on the beak too so I know she got some. I know she should know what she’s doing but I do worry. She’s just a year old and hasn’t hatched before.
