I want to know this too! I sprinkled 2 bags of sand in and figured I'd need at least 10 more to make a difference.
Don’t get me wrong, I like sand in my run. It’s worked for me.
Twice a year I take out a few wheelbarrows full of the dirt/sand mixture and dump it around my shrubs and in my flower gardens to improve drainage. But a 50 lb bag of sand only gives me about 4-6 square feet of reasonable coverage.

I lost Butterscotch my Sweish Pullet from this years hatch. She was fine yesterday. Seemed a little sluggish this morning. She was huddled in the coop when I went out this afternoon. I brought her in and thought I'd warm her up and get some food in her. She was dazed and listless. She stretched out her legs, flapped her wings, made that pitiful crying sound and died in my lap.

Swedish Flower genetic seem to be in the toilet. Someone else here said they bred them for a bit but had a terrible time. I'm going to contact them and ask about their experiences.

This is rediculous.
Oh gosh Nunny I’m sorry!
Poor Butterscotch. :hugs
Poor you. :hugs:hugs:hugs

That was eloquent as all get out. :clap
Wasn’t meant to be eloquent. Just got it off my chest. I’ve lived that kind of life that @pitbullmomma is experiencing.
Nine years is nine years too long to hurt.
My whole family loves my DH.
My mom and dad (both gone now) treated him like a real son BECAUSE I LOVE HIM.
And they recognized that he was a good father and provider.
But I never had the guts to lay down the law and demand the one simple thing I desired, which was to just be accepted by them.
Didn’t need to be loved. I got plenty of that from my family. I just wanted to be accepted.

...and maybe acknowledged for being a good and loving wife and mother.

you guys.

i just got done with work (had to bring it home to finish charting) and i quickly read what you wrote. and it is really great stuff.

i want to respond individually (and i WILL) but i can't right now cuz DH is about to serve dinner (he's not all bad, lol, actually, he's pretty great, but his fatal weakness is being passive when it comes to me) and then i have to go into town for a dr's appt. but i really, really appreciate it. and you.

i will w/b tomorrow~

XO and much thanks

The pine pellets are just compressed so no glue or chemicals but I would watch they don’t eat the pellets. I would think they would puff up in their crop and that would be bad. I didn’t put any in the run yet. I plan on doing it once they are in the coop to be on the safe side.
I put them down and let them soak up what they can. I stomp them down and kick them around a bit. They are mixing with the mud and compressing into something I can at least stand on and sink or slide around.
They are cheap too. About $5 for 40lbs.
My dog breeder friends use them to litter train puppies.
Keeps the smell down and keeps all the poop and pee in one spot. But when they’re used in a horse stall they get misted lightly with a hose so the pellets expand.

I’ve also read about rice hulls but I’ve never actually seen them in use. -nor have I ever seen them in a feed store.

OH Nunny! I am so sorry. :hugs:hugs:hugs

I had an awful time with my EE's too.
It's so sad to lose any and extra sad when they are so young. :hugs

I really want this goat sweater! I will have to tell santa.

I hate not knowing.
If they had been having respiratory problems I'd say that was it. If it had been a predator attack and they didn't survive their wounds I'd understand. But not knowing what is wrong or if it's even something I can help is so maddening!
open her up and look for ruptured liver or cardio issues
