Our wind chill will be 13° roughly......I think Miss May should stay in the bigger house for now. :hmm

I will make her a dish of yummy stuff and see what she will eat. Of course there will be mash and mackerel. :p

It is already getting windy here. I will be dropping the sides on the hoop run right away this morning.

I may leave all the birds in the big house locked up. I am not wanting wind coming through and chilling the babies in there. I will turn their light back on for this storm too.
We won't get hit as hard as many other areas will.
80° down to 13° is a big drop in a short amount of time. I would leave them shut in if I were you.

If May seems any worse, you might want to consider bringing her inside.

Stacey? Why will Cooper have 2 surgery sites?
Poor dude. :(:hugs

I got everything secured in the yard for our upcoming 70 mph winds.

It is so hard to believe we are going to get snow.
x2
I heard you all were going to get another 'bomb cyclone'. This is the never ending winter.. plus you get just enough nice weather to make you think there's an end in sight, then boom! more winter.
We're chilly here and there's been whispers of the s-word.. but it'll melt pretty quickly. We're above freezing during the day now.

Y'all wish me luck tomorrow morning.

I hadn't posted about Miss May yet.
She is one of my big blue cochins.
She acts very off. Crop is good, no egg stuck, no goopy nose, belly feels normal, clear eyes. Slight limp but the foot and leg are good, no weird feather thing with the foot either.

I am going to try putting her and a roommate in the broody coop. I need to see her eat.
She is down a pound and a half, won't or cannot roost, keeps her tail down, sits around looking and acting like she isn't well. I got some egg and a tiny bit of mash in her but the other 5 birds in that coop make it very difficult.
Her crop was pretty empty at coop closing tonight.
I have yet to get an egg from her this spring.
:hmm I think she is internally laying even though her belly feels normal.
She is 3 years old. Last year she only laid about a dozen eggs total.
Poor thing! I hope you get her straightened out.

Ugh, Henny that sounds like awful weather! I agree with Rae, smart choice keeping everybody buckled down it isn't going to be fit out there for anything.

Yeah......I am hoping for better rather than inside.
I have a medium sized dog crate...... I may put it in the coop to make feeding her easier.

Our high is 83, which is way too hot for me.
Poop still abnormal, fed her 35cc this morning. I swaddle wrap her in a beach towel, leg lock her in and she does great. She saw me getting everything ready and sounded like she was growling at me. When it warms up a bit I am putting Henrietta outside. Hubby might find out we have a new member of the family today
I was so excited to clean off my front porch this weekend. A Swallow built a nest and raised babies last year. She is back! I have waited too late.
I feel better today, other than a headache. I napped through my hair appt yesterday.
@Anansi thanks! I did try to use feed today. She didn’t like that I tried to trick her using feed in the bottom of her buttermilk. I think I will have to process it first.

This is what the next 5 days look like for us here. I'm really enjoying having the windows open and getting some decent sunshine.

May ate a tiny amount of egg white. :hmm
Flat out refusal on anything else.
She DID get up and walk out into the run mostly normally. Once out she was going after some scratch. I know not ideal.
BUT....her tail was up instead of down.
We will see how it goes.

The big coop got the pop door open for now. I am watching the wind and will close it once it picks up. Those birds will all head in when it gets windy. We are at 43° in the coops so far.

OH and it IS rain/sleeting right now. I dropped the sides on the hoop run and added several more clips.

Hubby MIGHT tolerate May being in the house. She is one he likes.

Mine are going to be $170 each at the low cost clinic. Tilly is about 60# and Sable is 70# they charge more for "big" dogs. They aren't big compared to what I am used to. :hmm

When I had my big guys neutered (yes 2 dogs) I also had them microchipped and vaccinated AND had a cat neutered and vaccinated. It was 400 total for everything. They did great even with that feral cat.
That low cost clinic closed 2 years ago. :(
Oh.....thanks for reminding me. We get our puppy in 6 more weeks! I plan on having him micro chipped also. Something else my breeder recommended is having his stomach tacked. I would have these things done when I get him neutered. I never knew about stomach tacking as a precaution....only ever heard of it as a life saving procedure for bloat. But I guess more and more people with dogs that are prone to it, are having it done so that it doesn't happen and Standard Poodles are prone to it
