I forgot to mention stress. I know your husband has a high stress job. It's important for him to not get so stressed as it will cause his liver to release stored glucose for that fight or flight response. These days we only end up with high blood sugars from stress.

The good thing is meat is lower in carbs and very filling, so he can continue to enjoy that if he already does. :)

Grinding up fruit is a good idea, just remember what a serving of fruit is and don't grind up multiple items. Would it depress you to know that a serving is half of a banana, and sometimes half an apple if they are large. I personally limit fruit because of the sugars. :hmm Berries are a better choice.

The other thing you need to be aware of is glycemic index of foods, and how fast or slow foods are digested down. Most fruit had a high glycemic index and will rapidly spike blood sugars. Things like nuts, and dry beans have a lower number and are digested more slowly so there isn't a spike. So knowing these numbers and where foods fall can help too.

All great info!

Hubs isn't big on fruit so it won't be hard to not have a ton. Bananas are one he likes. Lol that the dogs usually mooch half a banana off him.

I am thinking about keeping food and beverage choices interesting so he doesn't drop more weight.

In the last 6 months he has dumped around 60#. He was 245 and is now 180.
It has been fast enough to worry me.

He looks thin and somehow frail at times.

Ouch, that is worrisome. I would focus on fat and protein to help build his body back up.

With the weight loss and very high glucose, he may have a pancreas issue. See if you can get that checked out.

High blood sugars like he has will cause his body to go into ketosis. Rapid weight loss can be a sign of it, as well as increased urination, and thirst. He definitely needs to see a better doctor so they can figure out exactly what type he has and give you treatment options. :hmm

I bought the urine ketone test strips. He came up negative. I will have him continue testing every couple days.

So far he doesn't have the pain of pancreatic cancer or other symptoms so if something is going on there I hope we are early enough.....

Lol insurance isn't an issue.....we don't have any. :hmm

Yeah that part sux dux.

pancreatic cancer usually does not have symptoms until it is very far advanced so if that was an issue, it would be early and more treatable.

Although a possibility, I would think it is something else but likely part of the Endocrine system.

Usually losing weight helps with Type two diabetes. A better Dr. or specialist would be a great help in this
