Mmmmm I love mulberries. So do my chickens. I pick the berries from the smaller of our trees, but the big tree too tall to reach the fruit without a ladder. Those ones ripen, fall, and get devoured by the flock. And yes they do get stained purple in the processI have an untamed mulberry tree in the side back yard. I’ve been keeping an eye on it because its full of fruit but very few ripe ones.
Today I found out why.
There were 3-4 squirrels hanging upside down pulling ripe berries and stuffing their little faces! I knew birds ate them but I’ve never seen a squirrel do that. Probably running around with purple faces.
