I didn't know getting out of bed was a required part of the day. Make your kids do all the work.

Question: Let’s say I wanted to add a couple of Ameraucanas to my flock. I have 8 & 14 weekers.
1. Add 6 month old hens who are already starting to lay, but not the color prefer, but I know they are girls!
2. Add 6 week olders, color I prefer, but could end up with boys (since I hear they are hard to sex).

Mind says 1. Heart says 2. They heart will lead you astray I know.

I was told Ameraucanas can be sexed by feather pattern. No pattern on the chest is female and darker colors on the chest is male....

PIC (Partner In Chickens) is doing school work... but he usually is the one in the muckies to go IN TO the chicken run to feed the (now FINALLY) combined flocks of FlufferButters, Littles, Nuggets and Brat Pack. We have the Peeps and the Taterholes left........... aaaaand then we start in on Buckeyes!!!!
