Official Squatch Watchers

Suzie, the whole calcium thing is a bit bloated. If she will take it, that's ok. I feed my roosters layer and they do fine. When they are past their prime (2 years) their livers look fine.

ETA: The only time my roosters are on different feed is during the 30 day cool off, when they are in the bachelor pad... They get rooster booster feed.
I bought oyster shell once.
I don't buy it.
I am one that believes the complete feed has enough in it.

So what do you think her problem is?

Based on what I've read, she's just a bit clunky right now. Give her time to work it out.

Shrimp and crawfish etouffee done.
Not quit Super Bowl food but that is what I was hungry for.

:drool:drool:drool:drool:drool I'm jealous...

It all depends on the feed. My layer has 50lbs of limestone and 50lbs of oyster shell per ton. Some layers go as high as 250lbs per ton.

I put out oyster shells when I feed layer.. some would eat it and some didn't... I think everybird is different and some absorb or need more than others...
I am one that thinks the complete feed is the bare minimum.. some birds do great on it.. my big BJG and CX mixs seem to need the extra protein so I feed grower, oyster shells/broken egg shells on the side.
Since I started feeding fermented milled grower my hatch rates went up from 50% (broody and incubator) to 75% +... one broody hatched 12/13 in July. she kicked the one that didn't hatch out the first day and it had a meat spot in it.
oyster shell is so cheap it's cheap insurance
