Official Squatch Watchers

Good morning all. Terribly sorry to hear about all the loss happening.... unfortunately, we'll have to purposefully add to the loss, as we are in desperate NEED of reducing our roos by at least 2, preferably 3 or 4 though.... but only 1 or 2 the first time as it IS the *first* time for culling and processing..... hopefully this weekend... that will definitely make it memorable in more ways than one huh?

As you know Smuvers Micro Farm Family went on vacation to Cincinnati this past Thursday through Monday. We first went to the Newport Aquarium, where we got to pet and *hang out* with penguins.

We had dinner, THREE TIMES!!!!, at a place called Sake Bomb Sushi. If you are near Cincinnati or the Cincinnati Airport, we HIGHLY recommend you go!

Unless you have experienced help, I would start with one bird and work your way up. I can do 3 on a good day. If the Milk Drinker were older and I had more competent help I might be able to do more in a day. My first rooster took me about 1 hour to eviscerate and I botched the first cut for bleeding the bird out (we use a killing cone). I don't think my nerves could have handled doing a second bird on the same day.

Oh Dixie! You darling old man! Kisses to you too buddy!
Thank you!! I'm gonna be soo soo soo heart broke when he meets time but I know he had a great life.
Tabbys are very good with kids, other cats and other dogs. I have never had an issue with him. He actually listen like a dog sometimes hahaha.

I agree with @Redhead Rae. I get alway with 13 at once because of my dear hubby and we are used to duck hunting and that helps get a good presses going. But if I didnt have my hubby... I would stick to just a few birds at once.

For a very long time, the DH said he was NOT going to help, no way, uh uh, fhaggetaboutit....... but he's pretty much on board now, since he had to cull the baby chick we had that was dying......

For the roos, we plan to skin and cut into pieces, and put directly into pots for soup and stock. I believe this should make it quite a bit quicker in processing, yes? Cause we aren't plucking nor keeping them whole, right?
