@rjohns39
The ac guy said, “I GOT YOU RUNNING Miss Stacey!”

When I asked what it was it wasn't an answer that made sense to me. Our hvac guy is a young guy who works alone and isn’t like an “ac engineer” but he can usually figure stuff out and he is nice. He is also raising a little family. I’d rather pay him than some national chain. He has only once said he couldn’t come out that day. Turned out his wife had a baby.
This is what he said:
something something NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE something something SHORT something something MODULATOR BOARD something something
SHUT DOWN something
ONE SCREW something something something TOOK IT OUT PUT IT BACK TOOK IT OUT PUT IT BACK TOOK IT OUT
SO I SAID HUH!
AND FIGURED I’D JUST LEAVE IT OUT
something something something NOPE
IT’S JUST SITTING RIGHT THERE ON THE CABINET something
NO MA’AM IT’S NOT GOING NOWHERE something something something YES IT’S STILL GROUNDED something something
NAH something
A THUNDERSTORM WOULDN’T DO THAT something something
something something
$120 IS MY SUNDAY TRIP CHARGE.
so @rjohns39, it’s currently running, l’m not 100% clear on what could have cause this one screw to cause a short every time it’s tightened down on the corner of this little modulator board, and
when I asked if it’s “fixed” or just “jimmied TEMPORARILY”
He shrugged and said , “Who knows?
but you’re running cold now!
That’s all that counts, right?”
BUT the unit is about 15 years old.
Upstairs unit is 8 (we think)
And no, we don’t have any warranty's. We though the upstairs one was still under but we just found out a thousand dollars ago that it’s not.
