Sammy. That’s as horrible as my 22 days of rain and counting. (*newsflash! It stopped raining at 7:30 am and the sun came out.
Mud, steaming humidity, stink, flies....
I swear the chickens were squinting when that pop door opened this morning and they came tumbling down the ramp!

My dh’s family is in full and complete meltdown mode.
There’s so much to tell I don’t know where to even start and frankly I’m too exhausted to even try tonight.
The pst two days I’ve worn many hats including from being the information relay person, referee, counselor, BS monitor and caller-outer, and patient liaison from 500 miles away.
Thank God for helpful healthcare professionals.

Pretty sure at this point I’ll be going to hell for all the angry, hateful thoughts I’ve had in the past few days. I’m trying so hard not to judge my in laws but dang. They are completely abandoning their dad.

Please keep the poor old dad in your thoughts.
No one deserves to have such crappy children.

Interesting point! His sister , a crazy mean selfish hypochondriacle egomaniac who claims to be devoted to her “daddy” but does virtually nothing FOR him, does not have children. (Many thanks universe!)

She leads a dual life, posting regularly on Facebook about her father and her supposed care and devotion to him-
Racking up hundreds of likes and nearly as many gushing comments about what an admirable daughter she is.
I’ve almost deleted my own fb page on numerous occasions to restrain myself from JUST ONCE posting a rebuttal on her page, calling out her totally fabricated BS for her fawning fanbase of followers to see.
No good would come of it of course except for the fleeting feeling of elation.


His brother, is just lazy and wants it to “just be over”.
He is a person who doesn’t respond well in times of stress and would rather stick his head in the sand than be proactive about anything.

He has only one child , she is in a very private and commensurately expensive college ,and spends a lot of time “traveling abroad”. She has never had a job. Never even babysat for spending money. She is coddled and spoiled to a shocking level and is on track to become just like her aunt. I am surprised when I speak to her (not often) to hear how heartless and narrowminded she is (despite all her travel) rather than to be more worldly, open, and accepting as most of her generation seems to be.

I know all this laid out here makes me sound like a terribly bitter person.

What you are hearing is based on 35 years of interaction, not a snap judgment by any stretch.

I’ll blame that on my mom and dad ( may they Rest In Peace) lol.
Both of them warned me when I was young, starry-eyed in love, and newly engaged.

My mom said “Marry him, you marry that family too you know. If I were you, I’d think hard.”

What an... eclectic group. You don't sound bitter at all. You're not complaining about them, you're describing them. Is your husband one of those 'but they're family' people who will keep in touch after this is all over, or will he saw forget them and never speak to them again? I vote for the latter. It sounds like they're fair weather family anyway.

I should have named her Houdini! I put her in the crate and went to get the food and water. Found her in the nest box. Hormones are strong in this one.

Set up and very unhappy with me. I had to put the crate upside down then cover the bottom (?top?) with wire panels.

Did you figure out how she got out? I was planning on doing the exact same thing! Do you think it's working?

Netting just gives you a false sense of security. Even chicken wire is better, but it will rust out and need replacing. I use welded wire over the top.

I used bird netting all last summer. Not until the fall did I put chicken wire over the top and that was mostly b/c I didn't think the bird netting could handle the snow that was coming.

How would I do that without high jacking a thread? I better not.
I don’t want to get yelled at.
Or make the administration think I don’t take stuff seriously. Or get a warning from that lady who warned me TWICE for something I did not deserve and made me cry for days that I was going to make it through a LIFETIME of Catholic schooling and THEN get EXPELLED from a CHICKEN WEBSITE over semantics!

Well Jonah NAILED that this morning!

That's what I look like when I'm on my phone when I wake up.

Welp my day got demolished.

My big peach tree has succumbed to the weight of leaves and fruit. It broke and split right down the middle. Such a bummer but not entirely unexpected.

We had removed about 80% of the fruit several weeks ago. It was just a weirdly growing tree that looked to have a real weak spot anyway.

Just a lot of clean up today. The chainsaw quit a year ago so it's me and my bow saw for that mess.

I will pick all the peaches and hope they ripen.

Oh and its raining.

That's so sad! Hopefully they ripen enough so you can at least give them to the chickens rather than throwing them out.

I listed my boys on craigslist last night. No response yet. I'm really hoping someone got chicks in the spring and is now deciding they want a nice boy to keep them company. I listed them for $15 each, so hopefully someone will want them. I wish it'd have been a breeding pair though.

The fruit is all very young so likely a loss too.

You could maybe cinch it and dress it but it’s probably unlikely to survive. Sad.

Hey all, I’ll probably be MIA until Monday evening. DH, the Milk Drinker, my MIL and I are going to PA for the weekend to visit DH’s grandmother/MILs mother. DH’s sister will be there tomorrow afternoon as well. Not the sister that lives with us, but the one that lives in SC. We are lucky to see her 1-2x a year. We’ll be coming back home Monday.

It's super easy! Just click the +Quote thing instead of reply, then when you're ready to comment on them you scroll down the to box and click on Insert Quotes... It'll ask you which ones you want to use, you can click remove if you changed your mind about responding to one, otherwise click insert quotes.
Then each is separated by

words and stuff

Just find the

and type after that. Try it a few times with just a couple posts and you'll get the hang of it. I will say it's easier to use when you're on a computer rather than a phone b/c my keyboard blocks 1/2 the reply box on the phone.

Well a road trip and $325 later I have 200' of 4' tall WW. 100' of 2' tall HW cloth. 14 6' T posts and 2 36×24 windows. I'll get a $20 in store rebate too.

@apryl29 not sure it's working. Before I left today I gave everyone strawberries for a snack. Cause she's in the crate I left a few in the plastic tub they came in and set it in with her. I came home to this--

"Screw you, I'll make my own best box!"
This chicken is going to kill me. She escaped through the top, which is actually the bottom, of the crate. I didn't want to use the pan that normally covers the bottom. But the holes are to big for her to walk around on. They are apparently big enough to squeeze through though.
