Guess what DD#4 managed to acquire on Tuesday last week?

A squab:barnie:barnie:barnieShe picked it up in the parking garage at the mall, it's too young to fly just yet, and was having a rough time trying to find decent food, so was underweight.

Looks like we're gonna have a pet pidgeon now:th

Unintended bird species #3... Now I get to call our very and see if they can get us the vaccines needed for pigeons, and if they are willing to see it as a patient. :pop

I'll post pics of Chad a little later.
Do you have a guess how old it is? They are very parent dependent. They don’t beg for food like other birds so it needs to be fed regularly. You can give it a borax water bath too to kill any parasites it might have. Pigeons can and will pass nasty stuff to chickens.

@21hens-incharge I know who laid it. My very odd FBCM. Didn’t lay for a year then randomly lays here and there. Normal sized eggs and solid shells just not always polished. LOL

I never did figure put which one of mine laid those weird eggs.
I had an EE that laid only thin shelled and rough eggs. My brown weird ones stopped when we processed out 15 older birds.

If I remember right, this chart is hard to see but hopefully it helps.

Hhhmmmm.... I wonder if I’ll get another egg from her tomorrow. I would think they would lay 2 eggs that look like that back to back if both eggs were in the shell gland together. But maybe it’s only the first egg because of the interruption.

Chad is approximately 28 to 30 days old. There are still a few feathers that have not been shed, but with the exception of beak and size, looks like your typical pigeon. The beak is the only reason I knew he was too young to fly well instead of being sick. Can we give him a bath in something else to get all of the creepy crawlies off him?

Anything you would use on a chicken should be fine. I've heard people do the borax water because they will drink some and it will get internal parasites as well. Pigeons do love to bathe. Just be prepared for a mess. LOL
